Set neck vs. Bolt on
If there is a guitar that you want, and there are two different versions... one with a set neck and one with a bolt on...
How much more would you pay for the bolt on if they are identical in all other ways. $50? $100? More? Would you not even consider the bolt on and juts go for the setneck?

Squier Master Series M-80.
The unwanted love child of a one night stand between an SG and a Mustang. I love it, the rest of the world views it as an afront to god.

Well... I want pretty much what the guitar is. I want something with a joint gibson/fender appeal. I want it to have a comfortable chunky neckAnd I want to play punk and metals on it. It'll probably end up being a backup to my les paul... unless I like it more in which case my les paul will be a backup to it.
I honestly think it's one of teh awesomest guitars I've ever played. Got my hands on one the other day the shop and it was as perfect a fit as I've ever had. Unfortunately it's already been spoken for.
They also had the master series thinline which also felt and sounded great, but is less my thing visually.

Yeah there's two up on the bay right now. I'm trying to decide which one to go for. The one I played was a set neck, but there is also a bolt on model up there that is clearly going to go significantly cheaper. Don't know if it's worth the moneys saved in the long run though. The neck was one of my favorite bits of the guitar so maybe I should just keep on at the set neck.lamp wrote:Sounds to me like you should get one

So you think the set neck is worth the extra $100 or so?DuoSonicBoy wrote:OOOHHH those M-80s are NICE - sort of reminds me of the Espirit, which is also a great guitar.
It seems to need a set neck - bolt on would seem trashy with that body design.
