Post by Josh »

Got this crappy usb mic, for recording with a band i'm in, and i want to hear what i'm saying through my speakers (which is my problem) it's connected, works, etc. but i cant hear what i'm saying.
Then I have no idea how to use audicity (i might use something else.).
Any help here?

use headphones. if you play it through the speakers it will do like echo or feedback.

need more info mang. what kind of OS you runnin? what kind of mic is it? does it have software? if so you need to install it and then set up audacity to recognize it.

audacity sucks arse at monitoring.

even if you can actually get it to monitor, it'll be very delayed.

i'd recommend finding out how the software you're using actually works or you're not going to get very far.

why d'you need to monitor your vocals? just play the backing track through a set of headphones and sing into the mic. if it's just a bedroom demo on a 'crappy' mic through, in my opinion, flawed software like audacity then it doesn't exactly have to be a quincy jones-esque production.

logitech standard microphone. i was running it on windows vista, into audacity, srb recommended me something by sony that's supposed to run better.
i plugged the microphone in and it downloaded everything from the mic.
I'll delete audacity today, as soon as i'm finished trying out what i'm downloading.
i think that's the info for now. there will be more to come.
