I think some pedals would be nice with a "Fade in/Fade out" switch that is controlable for how much time to full fade. Like an automatic crossfade of your current signal without and with the pedal.

I suppose so.. I've seen this in really high end stuff or rack mounts.. but you could use it on the FADE IN as well.. like a downstroke build of distortion or in a delay for a slow crescendo.
Seems like it would potentially be an easy mod (for those that know) but I don't know if it would be deemed valuable. If you a pedal masher it would really help with accuracy of hitting pedals so as not to fuck up song integrity.
Ironically the way I play currently this isn't as much a issue now.

yeah, that's actually a smart idea i think. especially if you want the change in tone/whatever to not just "appear" out of nowhere, but rather "sneak into" the mix.

agreed. although, it'd be cool for a "live" fade-out of a song...if the bass player, other guitarists and your drummer (LOL) had one.
More Cowbell wrote:OH you mean like what a volume pedal does but instead of you controlling it, you just stomp a button and it does it at a preset rate?
volume pedal doesn't crossfade.
you'd need two volume pedals and another person to crossfade while playing.
actually why couldn't think be like a volume pedal? then you can use it for fades and mixes between sounds with your feet and you're not constrained to one constant rate.
i expect you'd have to run it like a bypass loop with the pedals you want to fade in the loop.

I could see it in transitions where the next part is heavier and you have a short build and the effect could build with you. I'd love it in delay builds of droney type stuff.

or run into two channels .. problem is that you wouldn't get an even mix without using your two feet.
And I love the "purists" in the thread.. cruising the effects forum. So legit!
