Godin ftw, i really want this guitar

Post by finboy »

back story...

so i went to down to the usual guitar shop just to see whats new and if they decided to drop the price on the space echo pedal i've been watching for ages when i decided to wander into the acoustic room to see if there was anything i liked (i sold my rainsong just before christmas so i'll need a new one eventually). Now i'd seen the godin 5th ave. before online and i thought it was kind of cool with the flat black finish, and it had an interesting es-125/harmony/kay kind of appeal to it, so i thought what the hell, i'll try it out. my buddy grabbed the sunburst one and i grabbed the flat black one and we started playing on them, for $600 these are FANTASTIC feeling guitars. I didn't plug it in but from playing it acoustically it had great resonance and great factory set up. it looked identical to this...

tag that onto the list of guitars to buy i suppose, i really need to get my 2 projects finished so i can start buying guitars because "i'm missing that piece of equipment to fill a sonic void and have no projects to work on" ;)

i think it would be outstanding with a lipstick hanging off of the pickguard for a bridge pickup, and might as well throw a switch in the pick guard to.

anyways, if you have a chance to try one of these out in store, i highly recommend it, great value, it really left an impression on me.

Problaly the first godin I've ever seen that doesn't look like crap.

Jesus in the last week so many repeat threads. We have a search function and this guitar has been discussed in several threads.

This is atleast the 4th repeat thread you and some other people have made in the past 3 days.

I played the straight acoustic version a while back - they really nailed the vibe of the old Sears archtops but took the playability to the next level.

I'd consider the Kingpin, but it would be covering the same territory as my U1(s) and I'm looking to slim the herd.

Wish these had a bridge pickup, and then I would very strongly consider them. I've been interested in a hollow-body with p90s for a while now.

so i went into L&M yesterday to check if the guitar was in, turns out it didn't even ship yet. i started checking out the acoustics again and they had this beauty in there...

and as it happens, there was a promotion that provided a $100 gift certificate with purchase of the guitar. it was about this time that i noticed one of these in the store as well...

it matches my orange rocker 30 head, so i put said gift certificate down on the cab, and with my upcoming birthday i will finally have a cab, the fact that it matches is a bonus :)

Jealous as fuck of the orange cab. Don't need an Orange to enjoy that, I've wanted one exactly like that on several occasions.
