60's Teisco(?) MEGA PROJECT
Here we have an unknown brand (Teisco?) guitar:
It belonged to my girlfriend's father, but was just sitting in her brother's closet collecting dust. My girlfriend and I are hoping to turn this into a project of epic proportions. I picked up the paint today, should be spraying this week. I'm going to paint the pickguard white and my girlfriend is going to paint a paisley pattern right before the clearcoat. For the body, we're going for cherry red. Moar pics tomorrow.
And a cameo by my girlfriend's cute butt. :p

I'm buying a Teisco from Hotrod and will be projecting it up as well. I'll be watching this thread for ideas.
Keeping the awesomely underpowered pups or putting on something new?
I'm thinking about adding a cheapy roller bridge and maybe a jaguar type tremolo to mine.

Neat, another Teisco project on the forum.
I think that might actually be a guitar by Decca -- not that it matters as they all came from the same plant. I had a Decca that has the exact same body and neck, and a metal pickguard that was shaped a bit differently.
Edit: Now that I think about it, mine actually had a Jaguar tremolo.

If you want it to say your name after every statement, why not just put lexx in your signature? Ends

the bridge is screwed onto the face of the body, and all you'd need is holes for the poles (that's what he said) but i don't know about a jag trem. the body may be too thin. the one that's on it is similar and apparently quite sought after in the shitty korean 'vintage' crap parts market. pickups too. part this faggy thing out. : Dendsjustifymeans wrote:I'm buying a Teisco from Hotrod and will be projecting it up as well. I'm keeping the pups without a doubt but I'm definitely putting a new bridge on... is the trem functional?hotrodperlmutter wrote:the bridge is screwed onto the face of the body, and all you'd need is holes for the poles (that's what he said) but i don't know about a jag trem. the body may be too thin. the one that's on it is similar and apparently quite sought after in the shitty korean 'vintage' crap parts market. pickups too. part this faggy thing out. : Dendsjustifymeans wrote:I'm buying a Teisco from Hotrod and will be projecting it up as well. The frets on this guitar are MINT! Seriously, all it needs is a new set of strings and a touch of solder on the volume pot.robert(original) wrote:im glad to see alot of these old teisco designs getting re-vamped, but there is a big part of me that asks, "why not re-fret it, and put new electronics in it?" besides the old de-armond pups.

you should at least level them. there is no way even the best fret job in the world will stand 40 years of closet dust.
just get a straight peice of wood, glue some 220 grit paper to it, and run that bastard evenly across the frets.
i remember walking mezz thru it and he said his shit came out great!

I'll definitely do that to the teisco project I'm about to dive into.robert(original) wrote:you should at least level them. there is no way even the best fret job in the world will stand 40 years of closet dust.

I'm gonna make it as viable a player as I can...
