it depends what you're after but i wouldn't pay over 100 euros (even that is already too much, maybe more like 70eur) for one and also wouldn't buy it without trying it first to know what you're dealing with (ok i bought my hondo blind).
some people like guitars that other people would say are utter crap and who couldn't ever imagine playing it as a non joke, i think sometimes it's possible for a guitar to be too much 'quality' for the type of stuff you wanna do.
i can't imagine someone like john dwyer playing an exspensive or boutique guitar with the kind of music he makes which is just very very raw sounding.
if the thing is falling apart and electronics don't work proper it's a no go, but if the guitar is a bit of a thing to tame when it comes to playability or if the sound is very nasal and it feedbacks like a lunatic i think that is something that can add character to the music you make and your personal taste.

Some guy has just set up shop here in Seattle, selling the most amazing collection of Teiscos, Silvertones, Del Rays, and general oddballery. He has some unusual Gretsches, Epiphones, and some Squiers to lend the place more gravitas. Plus some cool old amps. He's got a stack of those tiny 1950's Gretsch boxes with... what, 6-inch speakers? Wonder if he needs a tech?
I'm going to go back some time soon to play my way through some fiiiiine plywood and see for myself if the Teiscos live down to their reputation. More later if he'll let me take photos. If you're in Seattle, I don't know the name of the shop if it has one yet, but it's in the coolest-looking old building on Ballard Avenue -- hard to miss if you walk around for a few minutes. There's a good acoustic shop on the same street too, along with a record shop that carries apocalyptically insane amounts of vinyl.

Please post a link if they got a website.filtercap wrote:Some guy has just set up shop here in Seattle, selling the most amazing collection of Teiscos, Silvertones, Del Rays, and general oddballery.
