Update:

We cleaned all the hardware in a Brasso/Silver Cleaner/Vinegar solution. It took off virtually ALL of the rust/corrosion. You'll see that once we reassemble the guitar. The pickguard is curing in the basement right now (the gloss coat looks DELICIOUS).

We sprayed the first coat of red on earlier today! It'll definitely need to be sanded a bit and resprayed, but it's getting there.

Why not just leave it, right? The neck feels great and I don't want to fuck it up.

I only ask because I'm about to start a very similar teisco project... I want to do green sparkle, but really can't figure out what to do with the tobacco burst neck...

I was thinking maybe painting it black, but like you I'm afraid I'd ruin the playability of it.
