would gold sratchplate look good on dakota red?

The original shortscale guitars; Mustangs, Duo-Sonics, Musicmasters, Jaguars, Broncos, Jag-stang, Jagmaster, Super-Sonic, Cyclone, and Toronados.

I think it has the potential to be pretty hot, but the chrome control plate will likely never look just right next to all that gold. Strats/Jazzmasters/Dup Sonics have my blessing to go gold for this reason, and more so with maple necks.

Ken (L'arc en Ciel) had a gold-on-red option on his Fernandes signature strat years back but it was almost as rare in the market as the champagne sparkle version, most being sunburst. You can see a few cuts of it in their Stay Away video:

I would go with a bronze pickguard with a separate bronze control plate. It should be easy enough to cut by hand with the right shears.

Isn't the bracket for those types of pickguards just an L shape? I'm sure you can find something at a hardware store that would work, or just cut a piece of metal and make one bend.

The bracket, I'll take a pic of, you could probably make one from something at a home improvent/hardware store, you'd have to bend it to shape and drill the mounting holes in it, but you could make it.

You don't need a template. Jeannie pickguards fit these nicely. Yours is the Coronado II, Gold is 45usd, and all others are around 35usd, I'd be happy to ship it to you.

righto, pics of the bracket would be ace, i'm sure i could find or make something suitable. ta!

not sure if it would look better with a gold guard or a cream/parchment one to match the binding. like so:

i'll have to have a think about it...
