man, i kinda want one. are they as rare as harpsichords?

I'd hit up a Pakistan-made one for starters. A good 10 years ago I scored my first Oud (I was on a raging Armenian cultural trip of sorts), which was made by Mideast Manufacturing and was pretty decent in construction and tone. They've got lutes too, including less-cool looking flatbacks.

Man, that's amazing someone came up with that. I mean the whole concept of strings being amplified by a soundboard, how do you think up something like that?
