views on the tiny terror combo

Post by Progrockabuse »

any peeps tried them out yet? i'm struggling to sell this strat and the guitar shop i frequent has a tiny terro combo 2nd hand. They've offered me strat plus £30 = tiny terror.

Is it worth it? Would a head and cab be better?

Not tried them out Rob, but everything I've read has said they are good and the speaker they use suits.
Head and cab, more versatile obviously if you want to use different cabs, and not necessarily having to lug around a cab if you gig and can borrow one (assuming you'd use it to gig). What do you think you'd use it for mostly? Home?
Have been using my TT quite abit recently and it likes the DLS ;)

Dude, put it on ebay. Don't fear eBay because a few people bitch about it- you can always stick your ideal (but realistic) price as a Buy It Now option, so it either sells for that or nathin'. If you want the cash, don't be bullied into buying something you haven't really considered.

Hell, if you were nearer, I'd stick it on eBay for you.

Gumtree.com for your area is good for buying & selling... in my experience anyways.

Would the tiny terrors hold up well at a smallish gig.. ? or is it just not powerful enough ? i.e. un-mic'ed

I would love a rocker 30 but its just too much money.

it would probably be for home use and rehershals. My blues deluxe is very loud, too loud for home use/recording. Have been tempted by getting another amp for a while. would it compete with a full band at practise levels?

I'm thinking of being cheeky and asking fran if he'd list it for me. i'd give him a cut in return.

just a big scaredy cat. Also i haven't verified my paypal to my bank, would that be an issue?

Also, i'm a bit reluctant to sell it, as i want it to go to a good home and not get fucked up and shit.

It's been a while- you might have to verify it, but it's a pretty minor hassle.

i was looking up orange amps the other day cause i have been jonesing for one and was wondering if anyone on here had an orange and what they think. that rockerverb 50 combo sure looks pretty but they are like $2,400.00... i had the crush 30 for just my bedroom and it sounded awesome, but it could not hold up against a drumset, and the glue that held the grill cloth weave thing on kept melting and i had to rig up a new way to stay on. i had to sell her off....

I've got an AD30HTC and bloody love it, best £700 I ever spent. Lamp's got a Rocker50 I believe.

tt will hold up against a drummer as long as you don't want crystal clears. If you don't mind a tiny bit of dirt in your clean, you can gig with them easily. I did for a year and another friend of mine does in 3 different bands (black sabbath style band, rockabilly/psychobilly band, and a pink floyd cover band)

They are great amps and I would not hesitate at all to trade in a mexi strat for an orange TT combo. But of course orange is more expensive over hear and fender is less expensive over here.
They say great minds think alike....Sometimes we do too...

Yeah I've got the Rockerverb 50H and I totaly love it. It's the one amp I would never sell, at least I hope I will never have to.

They sound kinda dark to me, but then again I'm used to playing Fender amps. The clean sound isn't my thing, but I do love the distorted sound they get. I think you'd be better off with a head because then you can get a cabinet to fit your needs -- 412 or 212 for gigging, or a small 112 for at home jamming.

I didn't have the combo, I had a head and a 1x12, and I liked it a lot. However, you've not been trying to flog that guitar for long at all, and Summer's a dry time to sell guitars as a rule: sit tight, it'll sell. Join eBay, or offer someone a small commission to flog it for you on there.

That wasn't a hint, by the way.

Having said all that, a stereo setup with your Fender and a TT would be fantastic.

1x12 doesn't hold up with a band IMHO. If you use a PA all the time, fine. You can put it on a chair if your band isn't too loud, and at least hear yourself. I've never been able to make a 1x12 really work with a full band, though. I run my 15W Ampeg on 10 and it's just loud enough for a rehearsal. It doesn't stand a chance at a gig without a mic.

Ebay has changed recently. If you put a 'Buy it now' up AND a lower auction price, once it has one bid the BIN price disappears. Its caught a few people out lately. So i would stick with one or the other.
Rob, you can list it as 'Cash on collection' only, you dont have to deal with paypal or shipping if you dont want.

I think its a good thing Rob does'nt have an ebay account anyway, it could be lethal

Get a TT head and then get a couple of standalone 1x12 cabs: one for home and one for your practice space. (The TT loves G12H30 speakers, BTW.)

Then you can sling that bad boy over your shoulder and look cool as shit walking around with your Tiny Terror. :-)
