I don't understand the '51 thing. The pickguard shape has never done it for me.

No pickup selector?

The "tone knob" is the pickup selector.

i dig the tone knob being the selector. i'm always hitting the three way toggles no matter where they are... i usually open 'em up and turn them sideways...

Cheap, good chunky necks, comfortable strat body and decent stock pups though nobody ever keeps them...
What's there not to understand? ;)

I love mine, but I do agree that they are hideous stock. The '51 bass pickguard is AWFUL.

I've rather have a Squier Tele or Strat. They just look all wrong to me, like a bag of spanners.

Totally a valid argument. They really are a love it or hate it guitar.

Personally I love oddities, and in terms of Fender releases this one is about as odd as it gets. Rotary pickup selector, stock coil split on the bridge pup, no tone knob, strat body, tele neck, and a '51 bass pickguard... It's a train wreck. But that weirdness it what draws me and I assume other '51 owners to these instead of a tele or strat.

sorry, wrote that quick note at work with someone looking over my shoulder.

i got a sweet get up kids album signed by james the keyboard player / reggie and the full effect. if this guy didn't exist hilary and I would have never met. no joke. serious thank yous for this one. i wasn't expecting it at all.

anyways. notes on white strat so far.

it fucking rules for an old bullet
jack was loose as shit, went in and tightened it from the inside, sounds good now.
i actually did raise the action a little. :) i don't like low action on any of my guitars. never got along with it.
added a spring, it wasn't down with 13's with 3springs. so now 4. i have 5 on all my other strat type trem guitars but this one is doing great with 4.
i got every mark off of it with honda pro motorcycle polish in a can. except for a little of the pink shit.
(what is the pink shit? just wondering? looks like its from a red tshirt or rag wrapped around a guitar stand or something?)
i was contemplating on sending the neck to ben for a refinish before it got to me but i like the way it feels. so fuck it.
i should take a video of it after i get back from dinner tonight.

yeah, i menstruate. clearly, this was me, bleeding out of my pussy. you were the nerdy, sensitive kid in middle school who was always bitching about everyone else's flaws to himself, then when high school hit, he got a little jobby and BAM! WHERE'S YOUR FUCKING HALL PASS?

REALLY, you bopped in here just to say that? let me break it down for you:

wtf? it played 'good' when i had it.: "is something wrong with it? it was fine when i sent it, now it's merely 'good?'"

you mean you jacked the action up to nosebleed?: "rob, your action is set to high for my tastes." true, i could've put a smiley to end all seriousness.

no mention of extra contents: "SRSLY? YOU DIDN'T MENTION THE FUCKING TGUK ALBUM THAT IS AUTOGRAPHED THAT I FOUND WHILST SCOURING MY TGUK MEMORABILIA? I FIGURED YOU'D BE FLIPPING YOUR FUCKING WIG!!!"

yeah mike, if this is what your girlfriend acts like while menstruating, what a fucking delight.

rob: glad you liked it. i almost sent you a reggie record, but you said you had everything he'd ever done, although hilary confirmed that you in fact did not have Eudora. fucking awesome. it is really a great album. lots of good covers.

not sure what the pink shit is. actually now that i think about it, it may be from the case it was in. red like velour shit.

yeah, 13's on a strat will probably fuck with the unblocked trem a bit :D i use d'addario xl110's, and it always held tune great with 3 springs.

glad you liked it though. do make vid.

why did they stop making the vista series, while we're on unanswerable questions :)
