Spent quite a while trying to get totally satisfied with my setup and I think it's pretty much there. I've just joined a functions band so this has prompted me into rectifying a few things I have been unhappy with... Recent mods have included fitting a jb jr in the bridge and a buzz stop which I installed this morning... & of course a nice suede strap and coily cable which surely enhances the tone
I don't think the mods take too much away from the aesthetics & they certainly help me achieve the feel and sounds that I've been yearning for. The idea was to try and have one guitar for all situations type thing, and I think this is versatile enough to do that now, without spending mega £'s... Having a setup which is as compact and easy to transport as possible is my main aim.
Also recently become pretty content with my effects setup too which I've also photograhed... the Dano I find totally enchanting. The amp I still hold a question mark over but untill I'm able to get it up to gigging volumes again I'm holding back judgement. Will do a proper demo soon & fire it on you tube.
Anyways, I'm sure you're fed up with seeing this guitar but I've been having a lazy saturday and fancied posting some new pics.
That is a great looking guitar! Its nice to see that people here don't feel the need to give you shit about the buzzstop - I have one on my '65 and would never go without it. Folks on other forums always dump on people who use them. Again, that is a real looker!
Do you find the buzz stop has made a noticeable difference? I've oft considered fitting one to mine (it's a Japanese jag and therefore would theoretically benefit from the increased break angle).

I little bit I would imagine, increased break angle and all that.
I can't imagine needing one on my CP, the thing rings out for ages. It has those "behind the bridge" harmonics you can hear with heavy gain but personally I think that's just what a Jag sounds like. I'm in no hurry to "fix" it.

Didn't they move the trem closer to the bridge on the CP though, thereby increasing the break angle in a similar way to that of a buzz stop? Or do I have that wrong?

This is the second time I've bought a buzz stop & within a day of it being on there... I've removed it.
I don't feel it was really any better or worse.
Initially, the main reason for using it was to stop the strings popping off, but seeing as I've modded my bridge since and deepened the grooves and shimmed the saddles, this hasn't been the reason of installing it on this recent trial. I found it stopped the slightly buzzy bridge from buzzing, which didn't really bother me... it helped sustain to a varying degree but nothing spectacular. It did feel slightly more solid and trustworthy though... probably a slight confidence boost in a live situation. It increased the tension of the strings... which wasn't a plus for me after moving back to 11s from 10s. A little too much tension now !! It lacked somethin' that appealed to me previously... a jb & buzz stop in one go was just one step too far from the true characteristics of the jag. I think I've come to the assumption that part of the appeal is the buzzing & it's percussiveness, it's mellow dramatic nature. Having said that I've also found that once a jag has been left to settle over time it's happy no matter what, it'll a great player and will stay true to you for life !! The benefits of a buzz stop aren't huge, but I'll still be keeping it in case I feel the urge to put it back on. At the moment my jag feels unsettled & abused... in a few days I think it'll be back to it old self again.
Again, that is a real looker!
