Korg Kaoss pad mini hookup?

Post by the isaac eaton »

So I just got a KP mini today for my birthday, (whoo hoo!) and im wondering about the hookup, I know hurb did a demo on it before and he was running it into an effects loop pedal.

I dont have an effects loop pedal but i do have an effects loop section on the back of my cyber twin, when i hook it up with that (they way i had it) I could run the synths and such but the effects don't effect the guitar signal. basically when I run it in the effects loop it does not effect the guitar signal at all, it acts as a separate instrument. I want it to affect the guitar signal so i can use its effects, I dont have the right hookups to put it into my effects chain on my pedal board though.

I know im not to good at describing at whats going on, but if you can, help a brother out!!

i have on but set it up using a bypass loop pedal with the kaoss pad mini and then a booster pedal.
this is because they is a huge volume drop when the kaoss pad is used and allows you to add the kaoss pad with a stomp of the loop pedal and adjust the booster pedal so there is no noticeable drop in volume

im not really familiar with the effects loop of an amp but i think it will just have the KP in the chain which will reduce your volume

also unless you are running in stereo you don't need to connect both the R and L to and from hte kaoss pad, just both of either left and right.
I have 2 patch leads with a small adapter that plugs into one RCA jack (the red/white on the KP) from the send of the loop to Input KP, output KP to booster, then a normal patch from booster to return on the loop

eh ? it works fine with guitar, i used just rgb/cinch to 1/4jack cable and put it on my pedalboard between other pedals, worked as an instrument on it's own and an effect on guitar.

depended on the setting, some effects did have a bit of volumedrop but nothing dramatic that could ruin it in a live setting, i actually really loved it and regret it a bit that i sold it

just cheap cinch cables, i got mine for 10 euro for two of those cinch to 1/4"jack, it's been a while since i sold it but i think for guitar you have to engage a switch on it otherwise it completely mutes when you don't play ? it's been so long since i've used it.

i needed to run it in a bypass loop to avoid volume drop but if you can get it to work without a volume drop well done
