Just ordered a BYOC Univox Superfuzz clone

I only had a few because my parents weren't exactly minted. Most of mine were second hand and got given away to poorer kids when I was like 15 or something.

At the time and a few years later I sort of was gutted, but now I feel quite happy. Like you say, toys are for playing with and nothing was more magic than those toys.

I had two large boxes (roghly the size of the one pictured, but scale is hard to judge in a picture like that and I can't remember the size too well) of Lego. Mostly generic parts, but the odd bit from a medieval set, or a space set or whatever. When I was about 13 my parents sold both boxes for Â£40. IO was absolutely gutted, and knew that Â£40 was very cheap considering how expensive Lego is to buy new. I still can't tell if I'm happy they got rid of it (and to someone who would make use of it) or if it's the worst thing they've ever done to me.

actually, after years of hoarding lots of cool stuff that was collectable/desirable/unobtainable (he once came into school with a nintendo powerglove and refused to let anyone touch it- he was that kid) his parents' loft went on fire and everything except his star wars collection was burnt to a cinder. karma, in a way.

most of my toys were ruined by other kids, i have a few boxed star wars things but they've all had the shit played out of them.

Most of my toys got ramped (mainly by me, in fairness) or sold at car-booties, but it was definitely my books I was most attached to. So imagine my horror upon returning from Uni one holiday to find my mum burning all my old books in the front garden. Now, she maintains that they were being stored in the garage while she decorated my old room, when a motorbike that was in there fell over and leaked petrol all over them, but I don't believe a fucking word of it.

I spent a small fortune on Tamiya models when I was a kid. My favorites were the WWII battle tanks. I made a table-sized diaorama with a fight between Panzers and Russian T-34's.

But I relic'd the shit out of mine. I got really good results heating up screwdrivers and small nails on the stove and then using them to "bend metal" around the tracks and make bullet holes and inflict battle damage. I also spent a ton of money on various weathering paints - mud, smoke, grease, exhaust, and so on.

Anyway, it's my freakin' pedal! I'm paying for it, I'm building it, and I'll be the one adding it to my pedalboard and using it. So I get to decide how to finish it!

talcum powder mixed with paint makes good mud/snow. a muddy footprint on the pedal might look nice.

No, I'm just defending my original idea. Your version of counter point is to ALWAYS try to knock whatever idea (however innocuous) I propose. "I wouldn't buy that amp." "I wouldn't finish that pedal that way." "I'd never put that bridge on my guitar." "I think you're wrong." "I don't like your avatar." "You should change your signature."

Making the counter argument 100% of the time isn't the same thing as a well-considered counter point.

If you think I'm purely negative to your opinions, you need to realise that the world doesn't always think the same as you. Each and every question you asked I have aimed to answer, and it just so happens I have the opposite tastes to you in almost everything.

It's not personal, it's just that you have appalling taste and odd priorities. Now you're upset because I said you shouldn't buy the amp. Your sodding WIFE said not to buy the amp, are you annoyed at her too?

1. I have never mentioned your signature, you're thinking of someone else, thanks for attributing it to me personally though. It does your argument so much good.
