Help. Mustang style scratchplate for Squier Musicmaster

Could anyone point me in the direction of somewhere/someone who could make me a Mustang style scratchplate for a Squier Musicmaster that I am doing up? I have the Musicmaster guard but I've never really been a fan of the overall shape of it, plus, its got a hole in.

I had a Squier Musicmaster that I intended on doing this to. It is the rigt sort of shape for a Mustang guard in that both the bridge and the neck cutouts ar ethe right shape. And that it will fit the lower horn. However the 24.75" scale length vs a Mustang 24" means it is an elongated version of that shape.

I had someone make a cardboard (front side of a cornflakes box) tracing of a Mustang pickguard and used that, the stock guard and some guess work to make a cardboard one myself. Here's a pic of it on the Musicmaster project with a Mustang tailpiece.

To get the tailpiece to sit where it is in this photo (and to follow the edge curve correctly) you'll need to fill in part of the control route. The plate will cover the hole, but the lower screw hole will be sitting above nothing. So you either need to put something underneath it (I used a mess of wood filler), or find an alternative way to attach it.

Whatever you do, you'll probably need to make a cardboard tracing similar to this yourself. If you get that, you will have a much easier time finding someone who will make you a pickguard (based on your tracing) than you will finding someone who will work out the sizing for you.

If it helps, you might be able to get hold of the one I made or a copy of it from our member BobArsecake (who, coincidentally, is in Middlesbrough sometimes). It's a couple of years since I sold it to him (Doogfest I to be precise) so I'm not sure if he will still have the cardboard pickguard or not.

Arf, I have a confession to make. I sold that one you sold me to Pete 'cause when I came back here and I had no job I had/have bills to pay :( However, he's properly working on it and putting the time in to make it good again! D: I sold it for what I paid for so haven't spoiled any shortscale whatevers and it's still in the family etc D:

I don't know if it helps any, but I once had a repro guard for my boyfriend's Univox Hi Flyer made by a guy on eBay who'll do them custom for a pretty decent price. The username of the guy is trvintagepg.
