so this guy has made this parallel mixer which lets you combine two effects at the same time with kill switches which means that you can stop sending signal to the effects but still hear your dry and the trails (useful with delays as displayed here

as mentioned on this forum what could also be terribly interesting would be to run two OD/dist/fuzz pedals in parallel. could yield excellent results.

That was a pretty nice youtube clip. And running to ODs/Distortions/Fuzzez in parallell could probably be very rewarding...especially if you want to use a really trashy fuzz but still want some body and definition by adding say a RAT, tubescreamer or whatever...

One of my best recorded guitarsounds ever were two layered tracks where one was really trebly and almost sounded like a clipping hifi and the other was a very chunky, distorted and dark. Together they made an incredibly powerful sound....

Running effects in parallel rules. I started doing it, and I'm never going back.

yea, I've been thinking about making some mixer pedals for a while now. it's especially useful when using digital effects, that way you're just mixing in the digital effect instead of digitizing your whole signal chain. also, effects like chorus, flanger and phasers that just dominate your whole signal can be more useful if you can mix them in with your dry signal.
