I think they're pretty badly overpriced. I was interested in this originally but I just bought a French Toast instead innit... you can switch the octave-up off to just have fuzz (so it's really working for that pedalboard real estate) and the tone/dist/level scheme is always friendly to see.
It's a visual match for the one he used at the Band of Gypsies Fillmore dates (on the Live @ Fillmore East album cover too), but Mayer says there were more than 10 of those wedge enclosures and that he and Hendrix were always abandoning the older ones for revisions. This one is based on the Experience Music Project's example, which Mayer says may not have even been Hendrix's (he gave them to a few other guitarists too).
Considering it's just an octave-up fuzz I'd just go for a cheaper option. You can TOTALLY get the entire Hendrix Octavia/Octavio vibe with a $20 used French Toast, I can tell you that much.
