Swing Hailey *new album* Preview!

Post by roachello »

Got some new stuff off on our myspace for all ya'll to check out. Working on our first full length, about halfway done.

http://www.myspace.com/swinghailey

New songs include:
Witching Hour
Drastic Jurassic (featuring yours truly on guitar and Fredo on bass)
Dandelions
The Femme Fatale
Junkie Monkey *remix*
Come to Mezzi (live featuring our old pal Aen on vocals recorded a la Albq)

Your input would be gratefully appreciated so we can make changes before we finish the album. And feel free to grill me on my guitar playing. It's the first time I ever recorded with me on guitar so it's pretty exciting!

Sounding good, Roach!

I think overall the bass/baritone could come down a bit, it's totally swamping the mix at the mo. Maybe just a bit of EQ tweaking (lose some low mids) will make it "sit" in the mix better.

A bit of reverb on drums goes a LONG way, and try to keep the kick and snare up front- a song can totally lose direction without enough of both driving the song.

I'd love to have a bash at mixing Junkie Monkey, that new version is FUN!

ACID 5, you're using Pro Tools if memory serves?

If you could sort me out WAVs or 192+ kbps mp3s of each track by exporting them one at a time, I could have a stab!

Digging this.
I think Doog is right about the snare and kick being a tad low in the mix.
Maybe this is what you're going for, though... Very Broken Social Scene.
I am also noting the scarcity of hats being played closed tightly (in the songs I have heard sofar).
I really like the vocals treatments and the basswork alot.

Great work!

"Dandelion" FTW. I wouldn't change a thing about that one.
