Thanks for the posts guys, well my guitar had to go back to the shop for some work because the tone pots aren't working because someone put some homemade shielding under the control plate that was shorting them out.
But even as it is the neck pick up sounds really nice.I don't know how to describe it but it has very warm yet clear, not muddy sound.Compared to the pickup in my Fat Tele the it seems to have a little more presence in the low and mids. But take this all with a grain of salt because I am a crappy player, and I was just trying to get an idea playing simple songs though a VOX VT30 on the Boutique Clean Model.Well It sounds great distorted too but I would like to be able to roll the tone back to get a better idea.Anyway I do love the sound of this guitar and can't wait to get it back.
I do play my guitars everyday,at least an hour or so sometime more.I have MS and I am retired on disability so I will sometimes stay home and play my guitars all day long.More often I play at night while my girlfriend is working.

Jeez, sorry to hear that. How are you managing it and are you on any drugs/therapies for it.westtexasred wrote: I have MS and I am retired on disability so I will sometimes stay home and play my guitars all day long.More often I play at night while my girlfriend is working.

Thanks man.Well,it's not a big deal to me because I have had it for a long long time,I was diagnosed over 26 years ago and I probably all ready had it for 10 years before that. But I am really lucky in someways because it has not had many physical affects that people would notice.I have a really good doctor so I am in good hands.jcyphe wrote:Jeez, sorry to hear that. The only thing that is bad is my hands are somewhat clumsy and my memory is very bad(I am like that guy in "Memento") and both of these things make it very hard for me to teach my self to play guitar but I do the best I can. It is hard for me to remember songs so I learned how to read music a little so I play music from books that I have bought at thrift stores. When I want to learn something new I watch youtube videos or copy tabs from the internet. My main focus is on learning Sex Pistol , Ramones and other kind of punk rock I can find.I also like to learn stuff like Marc Bolan,Gary Glitter,Mick Ronson and also 50s and 60s intrumental music.

My sister has MS.She's had it about 30 years that she's aware of.She has her good and bad days but the bad seem to outnumber the good lately.I hope they find a cure for this shit soon.westtexasred wrote:Thanks man.Well,it's not a big deal to me because I have had it for a long long time,I was diagnosed over 26 years ago and I probably all ready had it for 10 years before that. I enjoy playing(trying to play) most of the same music as you.I also throw some country stuff in just because most of it is so easy to play.Using the youtube/tab system works for me also.

There used to be a Telecaster Custom thread at the Fender Forum but I think they got banned for some reason and one of those guys started The '72 Custom Club(link)robert(original) wrote:aen, i remember that!

+1 Really sorry to hear that, one of my Auntie's is a sufferer and is now wheelchair bound. The only saving grace is that her husband is one of the most amazing people I have ever known and he augments her standard of life and general level of happiness more than I can conceive of.jcyphe wrote:Jeez, sorry to hear that. I got my tele back from the shop.Apparently the shielding inside was original and it was the only thing connecting the the tone pots to the ground on the pickups, but anyway it is fixed now and the guitar sounds totally awesome.I love the creamy breakup and the way it feedsback when I push XXL pedal with a DynaComp it just sounds great and don't know what makes the pickups sound like this, because it is old?

Warmoth
I bought a replacement MIM guard like the one on GPR for my tele custom, but for my strat with reversed bridge pickup I ordered from Warmoth and for the amount of custom options they give you I was impressed with their speedy delivery. It was on the guitar in the same week I clicked "submit".
If I wanted a humbucker cutout on a tele custom guard I'd just do that. Not built to replace Fender pickguards or go on Fender bodies but it'll conceal any holes, or if you have a body without any pickguard holes it's not a problem.

Mine's not a Fender, it's an old Cimar, so it had a standard sized humbucker in it from the get-go. I'd really recommend getting a custom guard so you can use a standard sized pickup though - really opens up what pickups you can drop in (including GFS's humbucker sized P90s - yum!).brandon. wrote:hey benecol,
where'd you order that pickguard from?
I'm about to put together a telecaster custom and I'm thinking about just ordering the replacement guard from GPR,
but will a regular humbucker look dumb in the widerange humbucker cut-out?
how'd you solve the problem?
http://www.terrapinguitars.com/ do custom tele custom guards.
they also have WRHB adapter rings for a variety of pickups
