1930s Kalamazoo

Post by DGNR8 »

I just bought this (right rear) for cheap in Reranch. This and the Wangstang are the last ones (at least for a while). I need to fix the bridge, but otherwise I am not going to touch it. What I really need to do is get my ebay operation up and running again.

That wangstang is a puzzle.

Didn't ntice the shape of the Kalamazoo neck. I just unpacked it and saw the two big cracks. There's one on the side and one in back. I can't explain why it excited me. It was DOA but that means I can just about only improve it, unless I really fuck up. I am going to have to figure out how to heat the glue on the back and take it off. There's already a spot where it's sprung, which means I could think about partially heating my soldering iron (with a knife tip on it) and running it along the edge.

The wang is going to be another story. In addition to the wang, the headstock has been monkeyed with. I don't know if they were going for pre-CBS shape or what. I may either add maple or just leave it as is. The blonde paint is too weird. For the body I think I will cut out a hunk and replace it. It seems as light as a Jagstang, compared with other 70s models. It also has the contour.
