Ive been seriously thinking about getting the JVM 410H, but cant find one locally to try out for myself.
I use a JCM 2000 TSL 100H and im pretty pleased with it, but JVM has a rediculous amount of channels which is a + for me.

They are great amps. If you like the DSL amp, you will like it.

Dots, Lamp, Mike, and myself had or have them. If you buy online you have a return policy and you get tax free and no shipping probably. You really cant go wrong. If you lie channel switching Marshall amps...JVM 410H is the King.

pretty much the reason i got mine, too. the sturdier, more reliable footswitch is also a HUGE benefit. i played a TSL 100 head for several years as well. loved the tones, loved the versatility, and it was very reliable. the reverb tank wasn't great, and the footswitch broke on my 3 times before i decided to get a midi footswitching system. the jvm improves masterfully on both my gripes about the TSL, and the 4th channel is great! but even better than that is the three-stage gain settings on each channel and how easily accessible these features are from the footswitch.

what do peeps think of the marshall jtm 30? really want to get a marshall and think this could be an affordable route to it. either that or a jtm 60 like nickd's

It's an awesome amp. It's been my baby for 9 years. The cleans are some of the best on a Marshall...almost Fender. The dirt channel is warm distorted Marshall goodness.

It offered 2 footswitchable channels with a shared EQ section, a spring reverb, a series FX loop and a Speaker Emulated output. I use the Emulated Output for silent recording (I have 2 kids)

The reverb is not that wonderful, but it keeps the tone from being flat. I use a EHX Holy Stain for Room/Hall reverb. The beauty of this amp (besides the sound) is the simplicity. Just enough features to keep the veteran or the rookie satisfied. The other guitarist in Aerosmith used to have one. It comes in either a 2x10 or 1x12 speaker configuration. I have the 1x12. It takes pedals really well and has an FX loop, but I just run my pedalboard straight into the the front. They also made matching extension cabs and I would love one day to find one for mine.

JTM 60 2 independent footswitchable channels, each with their own EQ, a spring reverb with dual controls (one for each channel) and a series FX loop and a parallel FX loop.

I just saw one on ebay with a matching extension cabinet for $600

I had my second chance to play a JVM today. It was the 100 watt head.

My last experience with a JVM was some sort of combo, with a disappointing guitar. The amp was pointed at my knees, and the guitar (which is what I was really interested in) was poor. I just had time to work the amp out, but no more.

Today, I had a Squier VM '60s Strat into the 100 watt head into a 412 cabinet (I didn't think to check which one, but it was marshall). I was blown away by how good and how versatile this head is. It does tons of different tones, just about all of them, from perfect, deep cleans to crispy crunch to killing gain. Except, the really impressive thing is that the amp seems to do all these things in a couple of different places. Basically, it's several amps in one box. If you paid a couple of hundred quid for one of the channels, you'd wouldn't feel short changed.

Stunning. I just need to find a reason to have such a large amp.

I still dunno how you parted with it. It seems like it has all the great Marshall sounds.

On the other hand, you're lucky enough to have two great Marshall heads, with one of them being pretty special. They churn out hundreds of JVM's a week. They don't churn out any old Marshalls.

Plus, I got a free pick. I don't think the guy was used to seeing customers.

Had to sell it to buy Joanna's 30th Birthday Present. That's a big one, kids.

I miss it because it was great, but I don't need it has I have the 6100 which gets most of the way there. It's more at home in the hands of someone such as yourself who will use all the gain levels also. I'm a crunch man.

To be honest, that's why I'll never have one either. Live, I only use one tone and then use my fingers. I like a dark, slightly driven sound that is shimmery and chimey when you play lightly. The EVJ caters for this perfectly. I don't need versatility.

The only reason I'd want it is for fucking around, playing heavy rock and metal in my bedroom. I really want to be in a heavy rock band again. Then, I might think about getting a big valve amp and upgrading the speakers in the AVT cab.

Does anyone have suggestions where I can get a replacement handle for my Marshall JTM 30?

The handle is splitting across the handle in the middle.

I think this the right place for this...

I've recently aquired an AVT50 head from the 'bay. My question is can you run the head without a load? i.e without a cab plugged in. I've yet to get my 2 x 12 back.

I know with valve amps this is a big no-no, but this only has a valve in the pre-amp.

Any ideas?

I still wouldn't do it, just in case. Why would you want to? Is it for recording or something?

Oh, and which AVT is it?

It's the 50 watt head version. It was Â£80 so not too bad for a back up.

It was more out of interest really to see if it could be done. If so I could use it with the headphone out for a couple of days until I get my cab back.

Any idea when it's from? I think that they are all roughly the same amp, sound-wise, but some of them look cool and some them look awful.

I have a 150H and I love it.

Nope, sorry. Gotta go pick it up on Friday so I'll have a shufti then.

I used to have a beat up VS100 head which was my first proper amp until it crapped out on me, so hopefully this is an adequate replacement.

It was a VS100 that convinced me to buy the AVT. I used one when I was recording and decided to buy one. By the time I'd the money saved, they had replaced it with the AVT.

my folks just bought me a new mg50dfx 50w for christmas (yes i know im not supposed to know) best part is that we got it for $240 locally.

i've demoed several of the budget amps at my local GC and i thought this model was the best 50w i could find in my price range. i tend to like a little heavier music and it does get a decent metal or hard rock sound, which is fine for what i need: Volume

I think its a decent deal for a new one of these. and itll serve as a good starter basic marshall amp eh? at least till i can get my grubbly little hands on a secondhand jcm900
