Jagstang Vibrato

Post by ploppy »

Has anybody ever managed to get the vibrato on their jagstang to work properly and stay in tune.
I gave up on mine years back and just tightened the bar down as it wouldn't keep in tune.

yes! its not that hard!
basically you set it up the same way you would a strat trem, its just that the springs are in a different spot and tension is added and removed a different way.
basically, get yourself a nice set of 11's
10's will work too, but 11's seem to do the trick a bit better.
removed the trem plate.
locate the springs where they are attached to two posts.
move the springs to the notch farthest from the trem plate.
put the trem back on the guitar.
tighten the cigar bar bit down so there is about 1mm between the string and thebottom of the plate.
at this point you will notice that it sits back rather far, you will be able to go up slightly, about half a step, maybe a bit less.
and you will be able to "dive" about 2-2 1/2 steps.
obvisouly you will want to tune your guitar, stretch the strings, and move the trem arm up and down a few times, re-tune, and repeat this method, by the third time it be stay in tune and be more realiable than most trem systems. trust me on this, it only takes about 20-30 mins to do and the only tools you need are
phillips screw driver
needle nose plyers
a tuner.
in this demo you can tem im using my trem for subtle shimmers and i dive a couple of times.

Mine is perfect, not sure how, I never got my Mustang one to stay in tune properly, but the one on my Jag-Stang works like a dream. It is possible.

i has made a demo showing that the trem unit is realiable if you just work with it, it really takes the same amount of time to set up a strat trem perfectly, and less time than a floyd.
please forgive my anger....

Great video Robert! Your anger is justified by all the idiots that piss and moan and don't know how to set their stuff up. Now they have no excuses.
