Waterloo sunsets don't smell like anything last I checked, watching one requires you to huff traffic fumes though.... maybe it's that.

I think Ray Davies was being ironic or Maybe it is like "London Fog" I learned from watching "Madmen" That there is no such thing as "London Fog".At least,that is what one of the new british owners of the the advertising agency depicted in the TV show explained to main charactor Don Draper. He said that the agencys biggest Client raincoat maker "London Fog" was named after a euphamism for smog cased by coal fires of the 19th Century industrial revolution."There is no London Fog" he said.
