New acoustic

Post by mickie08 »

My new acoustic came in today. Nto an expensive one (450 normally without case) but I got it new for 300 with case.

Takamine EG340SC pickup/pre-amp, built in tuner, solid spruce top, abalone inlay.

First impression...Stings are way to light (maybe 10's 11's at most) But, it feels great to play. Sounds fairly full (especially when considering the light strings and the thin pick I was using at the time) Looks great. Can't wait to plug it into a PA and see how it amplifies. Takamine's tend to have pretty decent sound, but I think I am going to upgrade the pre-amp to a cool tube pre-amp. Those things are awesome. With getting the guitar so cheap, I don't mind dropping a couple hundred to upgrade the pup. That said, I am not going to touch it until I play it out a bit and see how it really sounds.

Here is the stock GC pick just for info purposes...

Kind of, except we figured that out. You didn't break it. It's not quite as nice as that one was, but it was a great deal.

apparently guitars got pt in wrong cases and while AL and I were sorting them out at the end of the night, I dropped it. I have no memory of any of this of course, but I don't remember anything past when I took the pain meds.

Takaminies are nice. I have a gs330s and it sounds every bit as good if not better than my old taylor that cost 2x as much.
