haha nope, it wasn't cheap. I've been saving for a long time now and had £900 to my name. They wanted £2,000 for it but got them down to £1,700, which certainly is not sale of the century but considering is a Jan/Feb '66 it's very desirable even in this condition as it's only months into the torrid CBS years. The neck pocket is tight as Gavin's wallet pocket and it sounds beauty. I borrowed the rest of the money from our joint savings, which wasn't exactly popular, but the missus understands.

I'll be selling some stuff though.

At this stage I just dunno, we'll have to see. I fucking love that guitar.

We'll see if anyone here is crazy about it.

Sounds fucking goooood - especially like both pickups together. F tuners - would they be original, history buffs? Oh and,

Cool man, I'll bear that mind. I'd much rather it stayed in the family than moved elsewhere.

This is as early as you can find them with F tuners, this guitar is a transition year I think. Aren't all vintage Fenders transition?

For example, in '65 and '66 you can get Bound & Dotted, '66 onwards I believe are blocks. F tuners arrived around then.
They seem original, no other holes in the stock.

Neck dates to January '66.

I would'nt worry about that, they were still using pre cbs stock for a while. It took a good few years for the rot to set in.
Its awesome mike, i cant say it too many times. 8)

Oh yeah I'm well aware of that, plus I was always considering a late 60s model until this turned up, you just have to play them to make sure they're not lemons. This is definitely a good example, teh neck is straight as an arrow.

i think £1700 is a really good price, i think any cheaper and you'd be looking at one that's been fucked internally or refinned.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. You have to add about £500 on in stuff to even look at US prices with shipping and customs, so it's not too bad for something in original condition only missing the mute and trem arm, about neither do I care. Would have loved to have the o.g case though, just got another one which barely made it home if I'm honest haha!
