Yeah, I've talked with Chris on some other forums, seems like a really cool dude. Can't wait.

I think you could achieve the same sort of sound as far as levels are concerned by using a smaller backline for sure.

Basically you just need a couple of 2x12's or whatever choice of combo amps you prefer, and mic them up with the front of house system of wherever you are playing.

This is known in the trade as sound reinforcement :P

most decent clubs do have good PA systems, and those that dont... are you sure you want to be playing there in that case?

and ya know if it comes down to that being an issue for you, you could always opt for getting a PA and smallish desk yourself and carting that around, I think it would still actually work out as less equipment for lugging around on tour.

But after all, it's your tour, your band, and we all know how musicians like things a certain way... especially when it comes to gear. So whatever you choose to do, I hope it all goes well for you and you have a great time dude.

over here, most bars do not have decent PA's. You have 3 basic "circuits" of venues

Casino/high end clubs (mainly alot of cover bands and known acts) Great sound usually

Club Scene (mainly pay to play/sell tickets/etc) Usually have a decent sound system but often a shitty soundman who does not know what he is doing

Local bars (alot of times the most fun to play, usually shitty PA if they have one at all)

So, you can not count on micing stuff up as much as you would like unless you are bringind a PA.
They say great minds think alike....Sometimes we do too...
