I know there is a lot of mystique and bullshit surrounding Fuzz circuits so maybe this quote from Sola Sound should be taken either with a pinch of salt or is a confirmation of 'try before you buy'...

ahhh yes.

i did try and load the demo but i have virgin media internet, which is slower than handing the packets of data to a man on a camel who will then go and collect my web pages.

Sounds good, more bassy though unless thats just his amp settings.
Sola Sound make a reissue at Â£120 so i dont get why anyone would pay Â£195 unless it has period correctlolz germanium parts.

Nah man, Germanium, which means battery power or on it's own supply (no daisy chain with regular pedals) but it gets the TONES.

Germanium = fuzzy and warm
Silicon = aggressive

I remember the differences from them two FF clones i built years ago, the Germanium model used to play up on hot stages though. I did'nt believe this could happen but it seems Roger Mayer was right all them years ago.

just borrow mine and see if you like it fran. i'm guessing that JMI clone is played with humbuckers, you can get really splatty fuzz tones putting humbuckers through mine.

i may well do Rob.
Im thinking more along the lines of thickening up them two Duo's sound when they arrive from the US. Single Coils are back in favour in Franland at the moment, they are easier to create are more personalized sound than the sometimes generic 'bucker.

Â£50 buddy, and yeah unfortunately the temperature thing is a pain in the arse. When I shipped Chicago Mike his FuzzFace in the dead of winter it was DOA until it warmed up!

i don't think i'd miss humbuckers. the baja comfirmed the fact that single coils are my sound and thats what i want to stick to.

currently strat is getting a work out. tele's being restrung and mustang is looking lonely.

I'll definitely consider one Mike. I just have Kathie and Summer's birthdays to contend with first, both in the space of two weeks. *inserts sweating wallet emoticom*.

The Rez-o-matic Single Coil on the Franrite seems to be hum free/noiseless, i wish all singles where. It opens up lots of new sounds. Humbuckers have been so reliable for me though, its annoying when sound engineers tell you you have a grounding problem, when in actual fact its a combination of Single Coil, the lighting rig and fans onstage for the drummer
