I like the tone but Ihave heard of reliability issues with them. I have almost purchased one several times (or a AC15) but can not afford the more expensive ones and the cheaper ones have aot more spotty reputation. Of course AC30s have always been known to be a bit finicky.
They say great minds think alike....Sometimes we do too...

I can't speak to the AC30CC2, but I had an AC15CC1 for a while. I absolutely loved the clean and overdriven tones on it, but couldn't get with the reverb or tremolo that's in the amp. I'm sure it's fine, but I'm used to Fender reverb and vibrato and it just wouldn't cut it. I know a lot of people change the tubes and/or speaker on the chinese stuff, but I had no problems with mine, as far as quality goes. Don't know if that helps or not.

My GF's brother has one of these and basically the thing sounds awesome however you use it.
He got his when they first launched the CC 3 or 4 years ago and had all sorts of reliablility issues with it. I think these have been resolved now though, but I'm sure if your friend has been using it, it can't be too much of a dud.
