Introducing my newest guitar... The Goldfish?

Post by endsjustifymeans »

So I visit my dad today and he tells me he got me a present at a yard sale.

He hands me a teeny tiny gig bag, and I'm like... fuck what the hell am I going to do with a mandolin... BUT:

Image

The Goldfish. It's 22.5" scale. Everything works and it has a very nice neck. I guess it's a kids guitar or a travel guitar or something. It actually sounds pretty good amped, pickup is epiphone les paul II quality. basic with no tone but adjustable bridge, truss, flat radius satin neck, decent pot, good fretwork, basswood and a decent 23 color burst if you like that sort of thing. BLECH!

tuners are a bit shit and theirs a finish chip on the headstock but it's a solid little travel unit for the $20 he payed.

I'm pretty happy with it. I'm going to keep it at work with my little smoky as a lunch time strummer.

Also came with a cord, adjustment tools and free christ imagery! (the companies symbol is the Jesus fish)

It does seem to have wierd tuning issues. Can't quite dial in standard tuning so I've had it tuned up 3 steps to G (like a 19" scale) and it's fine in that area. I'm going to throw some .12s on it and try intonating it tonight and see if I can get it to play nice in standard tuning. My old duo had a 22.5" neck and it tuned and intonated fine so I can't imagine this being any different just because the body is so small.

adjusted truss, put on my standard heavy bottoms, intonated... she's pretty boss now. I love the neck, shortscale but nice fat gibson profile. got a little carried away with it and broke my high E and I'm all out of strings. :(

I'm seriously in love with this thing now.

Learning unsane songs at work. I advise you guys get a little travel electric. Everytime I've had a few minutes of nothing and thought... boy I wish I had a guitar. Well, now I do!

I did that on the MM that Matthoj just got. It's sweet.
