Wilburys guitars
I've always fancied one of the Gretsch Travellin Wilburys guitars from the late 80's.
Never had a go on one and i believe there were 3 types made.
Has anyone got one or played one?If so what's your opinion?

did they really make signature traveling wilburys guitars? holy smokes, that rules. <3 the Traveling Wilburys. my dad had that cassette and we would listen to it on road trips all the time.
I heard that Gretsch gave them all these guitars. As some kind of promotional thing.

I just got a copy of "volume 1" on cassette for 10 cents at goodwill!! I don't think its ever been played before. I busted out my old sony sports walkman (the yellow one) and hit the streets.
The production is ridiculous (electronic drums and synths all over) but the talent is undeniable. The Orbison and Dylan moments are the best of course.
The sig guitar is......................weird.

Jeff Lynne from ELO. He was a producer for Harrison on a lot of his stuff.
there's a great video about the formation of the project on youtube. it started as a project lynne and harrison were working on and the other guys were their friends and got called in to do different parts and then it turned into this big collaboration. it's one of the reasons it turned out so well, that it was a group of friends that came together naturally.

I was just about to say, "lol @ Jeff Lynne being in the Willburys"
"Hey, do any of you drive?"
"no."
"no."
"no."
"Fuck! Get Jeff Lynne in here."
"Can I play guitar and sing like you guys?"
"[Dylan does Sideshow Bob rake-in-face-shudder] I suppoooose..."

how fucknig wierd thread timing. there's one for sale here on craigslist.
fuck i can't find it.
the production is funny because Jeff Lynne. You can tell it's him instantly by the drum sounds - sound just like ELO stuff. I think he also did Tom Petty's solo stuff, which you can tell because of the more electric sounding stuff.

Some of ELO's stuff is quite good, i quite liked the Discovery album.
General opinion seems to be that the guitars aren't much kop then.I'de still be tempted if the price is right tho'.
