Blocks on neck and the neck radius suggest Japanese (Mexican Jaguars have a flatter board) as does the name (Japanese '66s have started appearing on ebay).

Location of trem in that photo suggests Mexican (closer to bridge).
I think that soundslive photo is a weird shoop. The musicians fiend picture shows a regular Jag bridge.

The soundslive photo looks photoshopped. Hence the bridge being different. The low E string looks like it doesnt match up where the body/neck meets.

Also i was thinking, i have seen a couple of times the BB CAR Jag advertised with a matching headstock, but all the photos I've seen have had a natural headstock. Maybe that's a mistake? Maybe they don't come with Matching Headstocks at all.

All the jags i find with blocks/binding are CIJ/MIJ. The Classic series and the Big Block. Maybe theyre THE SAME. Just in Europe/USA they have different names :P

The mutantjag that stewart posted also has something else - the Fender decal. On the CP MIM Jaguars, the decal is a black border on a silver lettering. On the orginally posted CIJ Jaguar, the decal is a gold border on black lettering. Could this mean anything?

The mutantjag's decal more closely matches the MIM, so three things match up: TOM, trem placement, and decal.

i've sent them an email asking for clarification, although i'm sure they'll just say it's a jap B&B one.

I still think the top image is a photoshop.

Then I think the CLASSIC PLAYER are the only ones MIM.

And the CLASSIC '66 and BIG BLOCK '66 are both MIJ/CIJ and are the same guitar with different names. I cant find a classic series in the uk, and a big block in the USA.. that's why I think they are likely the same but with different names for the different markets. Also (relating to the photos above) they both have the same decal, black with gold outline. Here's some decent photos:

so, would it be fair to say that the identifier is the bridge? mim's appear to all have tune-o-matics, and cij's all have the standard jag bridge. . . or is that true?

ffs, fender, get your shit in one sock already.

Yeah, the bridge, vibrato placement, and decal are the give aways.

If the tailpiece looks like it wants to bum the TOM while the bridge pickup watches, it's a CP.

That's not the same guitar. That one has matching headstock and F-Tuners.

At my local music store yesterday, I saw one of the CAR jaguars with non-matching headstock and a bound & blocked neck. It was MIJ. It had a standard Jag bridge, and normal trem placement.

I suspect the picture of the TOM one with blocks is just a shitty rushed photoshop, as suggested by BacchusPaul.

So do the J. Mascis signature models, which are Japanese-made as well.

They are Jazzmasters, not Jaguars.

The only Jaguars from Japan with stock TOMs are the ones with humbuckers.

nope. its the same modern TOM style found on the CP models. a year or two before the series was even announced.

I think Justin J had ordered it off somewhere and I bought it from him so he'd have to chime in. The finish is over the bridge posts so it seems to be stock.

Yeah there are loads of different Japanese limited run models that you don't see for sale over here. Like the Kurdtz models.
