Fender 1966 Classic Jaguar Limited Edition Electric Guitar
Moderated By: mods
I'm guessing that guitar has been modified at some point. Either to add the TOM or to change buckers to single coils. Fender Japan do way more variations than Fender US, but they don't do little tiny runs or anything. The ones I listed are basically everything with the exception of a few colours. Like they used to do some kind of Gun metal finish on the HH Jags, I dunno if they still do those.
The stock changes all the time.
Example of a colour variation compared to what's available outside Japan.
Mustang Comp Bass
Bound body bass with matching headstock
These have all been offerd in the Japanese market as standard. Just like my Jag. Colour combo etc not available elsewhere. They change their lines very regularly, different couours each year just like the US thinskins.

EDIT: That link wasn't the Fender Japan Custom shop, it was just a link from the Fender Japan website to the US Custom Shop.

White on white stang
and the tasty orange one
The model number listed is the official product code. These aren't custom. The sheer variety of Japanese stuff is shocking and envy enducing.
They're not actual custom shop they're just referred to as that. I don't know why they don't just say limited run etc.

You can stop posting links to the Fender Japan website. I already did that a page ago. I know that Fender Japan make stuff for the domestic market that doesn't get distributed outside Japan. I have one of those Jags. But I was all over those things a couple of years ago and they don't produce that many variations of the Jag. They occasionally change the colour options but they don't do other changes to the ones they've already released. If you go back one page you can see a list I made of all the Jag variations they've done which is accurate apart from probably a few colour changes.
Gotcha. The links were just to show the sheer variety that they have produced, most of which I never saw at the time of their release or on any official list. These aren't very common either but they are out there. The B+B were available in very limited quantities before they were on the standard product list.
I guess with the increasing popularity of Jags, Jazzies and Mustangs it'll be worth keeping an eye on them in the near future too.
I agreed with your list, I was just replying to:

Actually my list is on page 2, so that's two pages ago.
I reckon Sub should take the neck off his Jag and see if it's a custom shop. Or if it's routed for buckers. I don't know if he could check the radius, maybe just by feel?
Basically I reckon his jag could be three things:
1) It's a custom shop.
2) Someone put that TOM on it, which would mean the neck would have the wrong radius.
3) It's an HH and someone's put single coils in it.
Otherwise, I dunno what the fuck is going on and maybe Thomas is right and the Japanese Custom Shop does small runs.

A few people have done that mod on their Mex ones so that's a possibility. Until we see under the hood we'll never know.Gavin wrote: 3) It's an HH and someone's put single coils in it.
The TOM that's on my HH has a matched raduis. It doesn't seem as flat as a regular one. I tried to snap a pic but it's hard to see.
