Bullet Coil Cables

Post by the isaac eaton »

I just ordered one, I have heard so many great things about the quality of these cables and my current cable is starting to shit the bed after 2 years, so I was wondering if anybody here on shortscale uses one and what do you think of it? I got ordered black one, can't wait for it to show up. I think dan auerbach of the black keys uses one. Same with jack white.

apparently they attenuate highs. it's the same with coily headphone cables which is why really Hi-Fi headphones have straight cables.

not that it really matters though. I personally think that making your guitar signal as hi fi as possible is ridiculous and counter productive.

also, with fender single coils some attenuation of the highs could be a good thing.

Guitar amps aren't very hi-fidelity. They won't put out much of anything you'd lose if that attenuate highs thing is true.

I use one, and will for the rest of my life. Kick Fucking ASS. mine is the white one, though it looks grey/brown now from skanky stages and my dusty basement

i'm not a fan of coily cables. they take up space and get all tangled, and any one i've ever had has crapped out really quickly too.

I've got one... not too sure about them.

They're heavy !!
The sleeve near the jack slips off !
They create a heaped mess for the most part !!
They give your jack input unwanted weight !! creating quickly loosening nuts
The aesthetic novelty wears off quickly...
did I mention heavy... who wants to increase weight !!

Apart from this I've not really encountered much benefits to having one, I will probably always just grab a regular lead from now on. But I will give it some time still...

I've just acquired a £40 Elixar cable FOC which I think is gonna do me well, they feel really good !!

I have a Vox coily cable and have had a hand-me-down Fender Koilkord (neither of which seemed to sap highs) and would agree that it's not worth it. I have a hard enough time not killing my friends/family with regular cables by inviting them in... A "professional" coiled cord (i.e. 40 bucks) only presents as good an audio option as a decent (i.e. way cheaper) regular cable.

And look at what those cheeky GFS bastards are up to for 7 bucks (10 foot), I already have a couple of the monster-style ones.

Too much money? Ok, 6 bucks:

I quite like Fender California Cables. Decent price, quality cable and jacks, although they do have a tendency to unscrew themselves. I guess this is due to the heat shrink running under the barrel. On the plus side, makes it easy to repair them should the solder give up the ghost.

GFS is the best thing that ever happened to guitarists' wallets, seriously.

I really like them, Its not to look "vintage" or "indie" I just like how they look, and I need a new nice cable. They messaged me today, all out of black ones so white it is.

10 dollar Hosas. They generally give me about a year's worth of use and when they break. I buy new ones.

I use a couple hosas for coming out of my amp to my pedals. Great cables.
