jagstang finished
hi, im new but ive been following this forum for awhile.
so i finally decided after years of drooling over the shortscales in my local music shops to get one. olny problem is like everyone else on the planet its not easy to find an extra $800 just lying around. but on top of that which one should i commit to?? i love things about about both the mustang and the jaguar but i guess i lean a little more towards the jaguar side. but as you can tell in the title i finally choose the jagstang. something about the akward shape appeals to me. but i hate just about everything on it.
so here what im planing on doing...scouring ebay to find all the parts i can and building one in peices but enough of me rambling heres what i plan to build
warmoth unrouted jagstang body with forearm and tummy contours, poplar body
a 24'' d shape neck with 7.25 radius and heart shaped inlays
im gonna put a telecaster bridge with the vintage three saddle bridge
for pickups:
bridge- dimarzio superdistortion s
middle- seymour duncan SJAG1 vintige jaguar
neck- fender neck mustang (i already have this one from a friend)
the rest of the electronics:
a jaguar type layout the upper horn has
neck volume, tone and on/off
the lower three slide switches would be an on/off for the middle and one for the bridge then a phase in/out for the middle
a mini toggle switch right next to the plate with a split for the sd
a three way selector switch next to that for the bridge and middle pickup (1. B 2. B/M 3. M)
and the lower control plate will have a master volume for middle and bridge and individual tone for middle and bridge
and a strat style input right next to the control.
now the only problem....what color????
what do you all think
thanks

Re: jagstang finished
Not so sure about that. Its a damn ugly sharp angle design for such a curvacious body shape, i think it will conflict personally.floydian8834 wrote: im gonna put a telecaster bridge
If you are using a lot of chrome hardware i would avoid a black finish, them HH Jags are a bit too Harley Davidson for my liking.
That aside, good choice. The JS is an underated guitar, often dismissed due to its awkwardness or kuRdtz association. I look forward to seeing some pictures.

im working on getting a sketch up and as soon as i start working on it ill be posting pictures. i went through alot of bridge ideas and i know i dont want a trem i really wanted a duosonic bridge but i cant find them anywhere. my original paint idea was black body, pickguard, control plates and hardwear and then white pickup covers, knobs and switches but i wasnt sure if that was too much black. i didnt want to compete with spinal taps (NMB) black album

the Motorik is very nice, but im in love with the jagstang body...the headstock is bad i know..but i was tired and it was in pen and you get the idea lol, im def. leaning towards oly white with black maybe?, and in reguard to the middle pickup i wanted as many tonal and switching options as i could get. but keep the input coming it def. helps me hammer out the details if i dont do the middle pick up any suggestions for more options...i like to make alot of noise so having different sounds is a big +

I've never owned a guitar with one.Mike wrote:I'm pretty much anti middle pickup.
This was one of the problems with trying out that JVM the other day. I was playing a strat, which had more switching options than I was used to, and using an ridiculously versatile amp that goes nuts after a button press or two. It was great fun, but it was difficult getting a handle on any useful reference tone.
