Jazzmaster pickups in a Jaguar: Anyone tried it?

Painting? Routing? Set-up tips? Or just straight-up making a guitar from scratch? Post here, and post pics!

I noticed the switch plate on Hurb's on the Jaguar.

Has anyone put this on their Jaguar?

I have one, I haven't put it on yet.

Linky. Click on reissued parts and mail then for price and shipping cost.

I have P90s on my Jag - doesn't look to cramped to me.

I was just looking on their website and it looks like they make some pretty cool custom stuff. Here's a picture of their "Super JM", which has active circuitry. Not into the gold hardware, but looks pretty cool.

Sunburst one is so close to nice but I'd want to see that neck pickup further towards the neck a smidge, still looks really cramped to me.

I totally agree. It does look a tad cramped but i feel like if it were where its "supposed to be" it would look too unnatural. It looks natural where it is although cramped. For sure not as cramped as JM pus in a Mustang

Yeah, the cream pickup covers kinda stick out like a sore thumb on the tortoise shell. Perhaps if the pickup covers matched the pickguard it wouldn't look a bit off.

I totally want that! I love that it has the short scale neck on the Jaguar. I wasn't sure it did at first because the 12th fret and headstock bulb both line up, but if you look at the nuts and the neck pups on both they don't line up. I've been thinking of building my own doubleneck, I was wanting something unique and I may do this. A friend and I had suggested a Tele/Mustang doubleneck because I use a CAR Tele and CAR Compstang on stage, but I think this is more my speed right now. :D

Jaguars are shortscale anyway, arent they?

I get a lot of requests for the Jag, but sadly due to the pickup route shape there are not many options for pickups, but this one is possible. I have it currently installed on a Telecaster, b/c I do not want to mod my 63 Jag. I am currently making a copy of my 63 that I can horse around with pickups like this and the Lipstick in the very near future.

Anyway this pickup is a true Jazzmaster pickup that will fit in a Jaguar without having to mod the body!!! yeah for sure I said no mod to the body. It will however require cutting the pickguard. here is the link to it, as I said this in on a Tele, but you can see how it will work on a Jag...

http://curtisnovak.com/pickups/tele-jm.shtml

It is custom made to fit in a dogear cover I am thinking however of cutting off the dog ears and having 2 center mount screws like a soapbar p-90.

Hi all. 1st post and new to this forum.
So, I have a CIJ Jag that I'm looking to make some mods to and this seems to be the most appropriate thread to post for this.

My plan is to keep the Jag Neck PU (I really like it) but I prefer Jazzy Bridge pickups. In addition, when I'm performing I find myself wanting to reach for a 3 way toggle instead of the sliders that are on the Jag so I'm aiming to get the lower bout electronics setup like that blue Jag/Jazz earlier in the thread. I have experience modding pedals but this will be my first time trying to mess with my guitar.

I'm hoping to get any pointers from anyone here who has performed, or attempted to perform, this.

My assumption is that I would find the jazzmaster wiring schematic and change the Jaguar to that instead. Please let me know if this sounds about right or if I am way off and what I need to consider.

Thanks in advance.

hello and welcome.
when you go to start your project, take pics and start a thread about it.
as for the toggle mod, its pretty common, popularized by Cobain.. i call it the cobain mod. i believe that calling it the Kurdtz mod is much more popular.
essentially you would place the toggle where the switches are
per: http://www.shortscale.org/wiki/index.ph ... Jaguar.jpg
and the out instead of going to the volume pot goes up to the rhythm circuit
