Do you concede at this early stage then?benecol wrote:Had a trawl around, and the differences would seem to be in the baseplate, and how the nature of the physical connection effects the sound.
Srsly, we know about the physical connection, thats by-the-by, but i knew i'd read something else was a key factor. I'll still enter the dreaded loft for that mag and scan you that article in.
Sorry for the sub-conversation Paul. Youtube demo that guitar! We'd all love to hear it.
Well there's a problem LOL, I don't have a video camera, i've never really been into the whole internet thing until lately, i've also not played electric guitar for long (although i've had a fair few) i learned on an acoustic so the whole lingo thing is still a learning curve where guitar electronics are concerned. my son posted the pics on the forum for meFran wrote:Do you concede at this early stage then?benecol wrote:Had a trawl around, and the differences would seem to be in the baseplate, and how the nature of the physical connection effects the sound.

Oops, I should have noticed this before posting my previous post...Paul wrote:It just has the same adjustments as a regular Tune-O-Matic only it looks fancier. It won't drop off with the strings removed either.Gavin wrote:What's the dealie-o with the Gibraltar III bridge? I can't see from looking at it what it does?
No special functions, just looks a little more flash than most.astro wrote:Gorgeous guitar! I kinda wish it had the 6-in-line headstock like the JetKing, though, but its not a big deal. Anyone know how much these are in North America?
Those bridge saddles are huge... do they have a special extra function, or is the difference just cosmetic?

Wow! I'm impressed by these guitars. I liked your photos, too - I hadn't seen a picture of the back of an ORM1 before, and was pleasantly surprised by the neck join (which looks really comfortable). The ferrules are, as noted by others, also quite impressive. The whole thing looks well constructed and appealing.
By the way - this is my first post here!
I was searching for pics of the ORM1, and found this forum by accident. I've played the guitar since I was sixteen (I'm now thirty seven, and my first electric was a horrible Hondo Fender copy), but have only starting getting into shortcales very recently (as in, this year). In the past, I only ever played strats and teles. I pared down my whole collection a few years back, and now own just a 2006 Highway 1 strat, and an ESP/LTD MC200 (the green "viper" shaped one), which is a 2004 model. I got sick of owning guitars that were worth so much money I was afraid to even play them, so off they went!
This little Ibanez caught my attention, though, and I've been meaning to give one a play, but wanted to know more about them first. I've still yet to hear the music of The Mars Volta, but I'll definitely be getting some of their stuff the next time I'm in a CD buying mood.
So thank you for the photos, and thanks for helping me to discover this great forum! Cheers!

I don't want to spoil your excitement but i would ring them to make sure they have it, i had a huge run in with them over a guitar that was shown as in stock but wasn't, the ballbreaker came when nearly two weeks later i still had no refund, in the end they actually went out and payed the refund into my debit card account, may have been a one off but may be worth checking, i hope it turns out ok for you.
Cheers, thanks - I did ring them to check and it was the last one. So fingers crossed there's no balls up this time!Paul wrote:I don't want to spoil your excitement but i would ring them to make sure they have it, i had a huge run in with them over a guitar that was shown as in stock but wasn't, the ballbreaker came when nearly two weeks later i still had no refund, in the end they actually went out and payed the refund into my debit card account, may have been a one off but may be worth checking, i hope it turns out ok for you.
