Brian may's guitar is pretty cool looking and sounding. But I could never play one unless i was in a queen cover band. It was his creation and his original Idea, I would just feel weird playing one, that being said I feel that way about all signature guitars too. I guess you could say that les paul made the les paul as his original creation, but that guitar has evolved into something much more then a les paul signature model, its gone on to become one the most iconic guitars of all time and has been used by millions of people.

The original was made out of random spare parts and he always plays with a coin, I don't think tonewoods were really an issue.

"Tone" of Mahogany oak is kinda impossible be replayed whit any other Wood.
Acoustic effect of mahogany seems still Godlike , get for example an Semi acustic gibson maded of mahogany vs Gretch maded of alder
Sound of gibson is very different.

thatÂ´s why gibson still using Mahogany at les pauls and sgÂ´s , itÂ´s part of tone.
checkout an les paul madded of Alder for example donÂ´t sounds exactly same.
itÂ´s more notable on semi hollow bodyÂ´s. at solid difference is minimal.

the brain may guitar , has madded thinking in get high sound resonance from semi hollows and had punch of first BurnÂ´s
well even for fist guitar attempt itÂ´s actual itÂ´s amazing project. proves bolt on guitars can had sustain and strong sound like gibson joint on
but itÂ´s not short bolt on like stratos itÂ´s mix of Long tenon and bolt on , brilliant for amateur work

for me brian may like rory did revolution at music , self style , nobody tryed at time of brian mix opera and rock ....
only queen did.

I wouldn't want one in his trademark colors.

I don't see anything wrong with playing his guitar because he believes in the guitar and has worked with multiple companies now to try and put it out there for everybody.

Authorized I believe it's 3 for the production guitars. Guild, Burns, and now May himself.

He also sanctioned some smaller luthiers and there have been a host of budget copies ranging back from decades ago up to the very present. There is a page on the internet with info on some of the different copies.

Small luthiers i Belive Fyer and Guyton doing authorized too i think , and faithful original bridge reproduction
