New EHX Deluxe Memory Boy + mini Vocoder for ROBROE

Post by Mike »

yes you read that right.

Analog TAP TEMPO Delay and you know it will be reasonable. This is fantastic stuff.

I see:

Blend, Gain, Rate, Depth, Feedback, Delay (i.e. all the features of the DMM)

A bunch of note-types for Tap Tempo on that left hand mode knob

The right hand mode knob looks like it controls Exp mode, probably mod depth/speed, delay time, feedback.

And Stereo too, it looks like. Brilliant!

And an FX loop for the repeats. holy fuck, it's like they took the Boutique Delay wishlist and just made it available to us proles.

http://www.worldmusicsupply.com/Electro ... y-Boy.html

Now accepting pre-orders, ETA 01/09 - I presume they mean, 01/10

The Deluxe Memory Boy is the latest addition to the Memory Man family. It carries on the family tradition with new performance aspects that give it unique power and metronomic definition. Quality IC's deliver warm and organic tones, while the new Tap Tempo allows you to always be in perfect sync with the groove.

Choose from five note divisions for metronomic variance, while staying in sync and always on the mark. The added EFX loop integrates your pedals to follow the groove with tonal dexterity. Use an expression pedal to control your modulations for performance flexibility.

The Deluxe Memory Boy is smart and always on time.

* Knobs: Blend, Gain, Rate, Depth, Feedback, Delay
* Expression Mode: Rate, Depth, Feedback, Delay
* Depth knob controls square/sine and modulation depth
* Tap Divide Mode
* FX Loop

thank christ i didn't buy a nova delay last night :roll:

hopefully the warm up time won't be in this unit. Thats the main reason why i'm looking to sell the MB, its rare to get the same settings out of it from use to use without fine-tuning it.

this thing looks perfect, honestly can't think of anything else to ask for in a analog delay. presets maybe???

Presets would mean all control over all parameters would be digitized.

indeed. The effects loop for the repeats is a great idea. pitch shifting, reverbs, hell you could put your favourite chorus or vibrato if you don't like the modulation tones the mb puts out

I saw this on Harmony Central and thought it might be fake; having seen the second brochure image I'm now much more convinced. Was about to launch into buyer's remorse on the memory boy, but am not that arsed about tap tempo (I can use the SMMH for that, if need be) and the boost/level/whatever is what I don't like about the DMM. Looks like the Memory Boy with an expression pedal will cover most of the rest of it.

Which seems like a really negative way for me to say: fuck me, Electro Harmonix are truly ruling things* at the moment.

I don't feel remorse at buying the Memory Boy at all.

1. It was £65, I can get £50 it on ebay should I want
2. It's a great analogue delay

Electro-Harmonix are really turning it on at the moment.. I'm gald I'm going through a less is more phase or this could all get very costly.

I think it's funny how quickly their small pedals are getting 'big' again

There's some discussion over at the EHX forum about this as well.
I'm very excited. They're gonna put malekko out of business if they keep it up.

+1 Tru Dat. They are really trying to separate themselves from the pack and succeeding in my estimations. It's good to see a company not sitting on their past accomplishments and trying new things.

I just ordered a Memory Toy from Hot Rox in Nottingham - they said they've got loads of all the EHx pedals except the Cathedral one.

I didn't know about this place but their stock and prices are v good - I think for valves, leads etc as well...
