recording

today i tried recording my amp with an mic directly connected to my pc, an it sounded like shit, the noise i got was almost has loud has what was being recorded. So.... what do i need to do some decent amp recordings? some kind of usb interface? a new mic (i only have a cheap behringer)?
I don't want to spend much money.... give me some advice shortscale

M-Audio Fast Track or a Line 6 Toneport.

Simple USB interface is what you need.

A USB interface should do the trick. I have a cheap Behringer mic and it works fine, noiseless recordings.

I have m-audio firewire device, that does its job well..
(maybe all the firewire is too 'fancy'/cant connect to my little win lapotpop/.. should get that Fasttrack)

I bought a Line 6 UX2 a couple weeks ago, comes bundled with Pod Farm (amp sims/effects etc)+ Ableton, Riffworks & Reason pretty good value, USB minimal setup.

I have used things made by M-Audio and PreSonus. Look for something with the number of mic and instrument inputs that you need and go from there.

i'm probably getting a fastrack, seem to go for cheap on ebay. robs thing looks really nice, and it's cheap to! But i only have a laptop at the moment

I record with a MXL USB Condenser mic with a foam cover over the top to reduce background noise. It works pretty good and I usually get a pretty good, verrry limited background noise recordings. Cheap, easy, and more convenient for me anyways.
