got the pickguard:

check out my wiring jorb on the pots:

treble bleed dealio on the volume pot, and mallory cap on the tone. don't have any sheilding tape on there at the minute....

finally got it all together.

It sounds and plays great. the neck feels great. IMO it's a little bit chunkier than your standard modern strat neck which I really like.

I'm thinking of changing the tone knob out for something else. your normal low-pass filter tone control is kind of useless on a guitar that only has a neck pickup. I think I'm gonna try this out:

Midrange Boost / Cut Modification

Here's another cool mod for your tone control designed by Torres Engineering. It's a mid cut / boost (sort of) control that replaces your tone control and adds a few parts. When you turn down the mid control it cuts the mids yet leaves the lows and highs. When you turn up the mid control it rolls off some Lows and highs and leaves the mids, so it sounds as though you added mids. The only way to truly add anything is to have a active eq or preamp installed (which requires a battery.) Just follow the diagram below, make sure the lead coming from the inductor to the Resistor/Cap network is insulated (the other lead doesn't matter cause it's soldered to the back of the pot along with the tabs on the inductor, just make sure you have room for it on the side of the pot or solder it to the back of the pot).

so hey Fran, this is what I've come up with for a john squire sound. I'm using an SD-1 clone (tubescreamer would also work), a CE-3/CS9 type stereo chorus (an "Applause Super Chorus"), a Digitech Digiverb reverb pedal (set on "church"), and a Dano Peach Fuzz (my fuzz face battery is dead so this is the next closest thing. the gain is a bit too high right here but you get the idea).

Thats awesome also favourited it on youtube btw. How did you setup that chourus of yours then?

AMAZING!! Sounds great Haze Mage, you got it nailed, love it.
I was messing around on my Ibanez FL-9 today which is very smooth and subtle, it led me to play I wanna be adored.

Love the black & red tort, my fave combination.
