if you could only use one effects pedal.....
don't know if this has been done before
like it says above. let me set the scene.
you have your guitar and amp of choice and you can only use one effects pedal to get most of your sounds/tones.
i say effects pedal, as i'm not counting a pedal tuner. mainly as that's pretty crucial, yet not an effects pedal. same with an amp footswitch, though not really crucial to your sound.
it would it also affect your choice of amp or guitar too? say if you select a delay pedal as your choice, would you choose a multi-channel amp to make up for not having a dirt pedal/od pedal/ boost etc. would you have a guitar with beefy pickups to help drive the amp a little more?
would you use a multi fx unit? whilst technically one pedal, would it give you everything you'd need?
post your pedal choice and why?

if the amp has reverb i can deal with it there'll be no very short delay (which i prefer over reverb)...i guess i'd say tgd to just make it sound more interesting....BUT...the feedback knob on my behringer dd400 has become such a must ! lol
not enoguh feedback ? let's turn up this knob, easy trick.

OCD because I'd use a one channel amp which is gritty and I'd require a gain setting... This pedal is versatile enough for all the drive sounds I could possibly want. It doesn't colour your sound too much, or sound artificial !!

To be honest I can and have got by with no pedals at all, when using my 6100 as it has a great Clean and a fantastic Crunch channel. Anything I use now is just for convienience/adding different sounds to songs; I use my Delay, Trem, Chorus, Boost and various drive pedals plenty, but I could do without, no worries. The only sounds I really need are a spanky clean and a great crunch sound.
So assuming that my amp is giving me the former, I'd use a Catalinbread DLS to give me the latter.

kinda in a same ballpark. if i had an amp that would give me my cleans and drive needs, i'd probably not use anything.
plus, like kim, i like to use the amps reverb. it's gets close to a short echo for my textured stuff.
as i my amp doesn't do much in the drive department, i do the same and use my DLS. that does everything i need, i've done gigs using just that and not found that i'm lacking or need more or anything.

if I'm playing the YBA-1, I would say the only pedal I could not do without is my analog delay box.
In the right setting, and with the right guitars, The amp will cover pretty much my entitre essensial gain palette by working the volume knob. It' wouldn't be practical but it would work.

What output is the valve junior 15w, how do you cope live?BacchusPaul wrote:Jag-stang > Saltbooster > Epiphone Valve Junior > Marshall 412
This is basically my set up that I gig with. It's great. It allows me to switch between too different volumes. There are three volume knobs and one tone knob in this set up. I leave that tone knob alone.

Will still only develop 15Wkim wrote:15w top into 4 12 ?
I've seen people pull off live, un mic'd shit with 20W trough a 12 inch speaker before. it's doable, provided you don't need cleans AT ALL.
