wow. some pretty big lists. am jealous.
mine:
Fender Musicmaster Bass early 70s (stolen by 'friend')
Fender F-35 (still own)
Squier Telecaster (MIK) bought it in 96, no idea of the year of the instrument
B.C. Rich Warlock (rented to use onstage for a cover of "we're not gonna take it" the store owner died, thus I got to keep it)
Saturn Acoustic
Gibson nylon string acoustic
Fender Jag-Stang (one of the first few sold in my area, hated it after a year, felt like a fanboy owning it, sold it, do hate that now)
Kramer POS bass
Danelectro U2 (had it for a week, returned it)
Seagull 12 String (frets were messed, guitar store said they'd fix it, but kept giving it back to me exactly the same)
Epiphone El Segundo acoustic bass (frets were messed, store said they'd fix it, same store as the seagull, fuckers, returned for cashback)
Epiphone Dot (had it for a semester, bought from a friend who begged to buy it back when he realised that once the semester was over I was gonzo)
EKO Ranger VI (acquired in trade with homeless guy for a pack of cigarettes and all the money I was carrying *3.62 or so*, best acoustic I've owned to date, still own it, always will)
Fender Precision Bass (given to me by a cousin, 5 months later he got it back for 10 iron maiden cds)
Fender J Mascis Jazzmaster (current main electric)
Harmony Rocket 1960 (pawnshop score, 110 bucks, guy thought it was pos, but it just needed the bridge realligned... as simple as loosening the strings, currently at my cousin's in Winnipeg, back at XMAS!)
Ibanez Talman w/ bigsby (pawn shop score, 250$. gave it away when I had to move back to Newfoundland from Winnipeg last year)
Goya Rangemaster (pawn shop score, 150$ gave it to a friend when I moved home from Winnipeg)
Teisco SS4L (pawn shop score, 80$, gave it to a friend when I moved back..... same as above)
I may have had one or two others that I can't quite remember. Started playing in 1992, so it's hard to remember everything.

My Fender Lead III and Lead II. Nothing compares. After that it's the Tele shaped Bullet "1" HSS and 90 Korean-era Squier II Stratocaster HSS. All the aforementioned have unending sustain and superb tone. The last two have the 13 layer "laminated hardwood" bodies that are significantly heavier then their "solid body" (3 piece) counterparts.
I'm a bass player, and only bought my first guitar about 6 years ago, I guess. I've got a small collection now, and haven't gotten rid of any of them...
Guitar the first:
Godin Exit 22
Then I acquired an old, severely abused Alverez 12-string acoustic that was missing an adjustable saddle, had a lot of damage, some missing and non-functional tuners, a hole in the back... and fixed it up to playing level as a 6-string. It sounds surprisingly good... don't have any pictures of it though.
About 2 years ago, I picked up a MIJ Fender Aerodyne Telecaster on a sale.
Last month I bought Electric guitar #3, a MIJ 2009 Fender '66 Classic Jaguar
This summer past, my wife and I also inherited my father-in-law's guitars, a 70s Fender acoustic (I'm blanking on the model #) and 12-string, a late 60s Epiphone acoustic and an Epiphone Les Paul Special II. The Fenders need work, as their tops have warped under the bridges, and I can't bring myself to play the Epi Les Paul without modifying it... and I can't bring myself to modifying it The Epi acoustic may get some play, but right now I'm just protecting it.
Bass wise, I bought my first one about 14 years ago now...
A Profile P-bass copy, which has since had its double-warped neck replaced with a fretless neck from a Yamaha (middle)
My second bass was a Yamaha BBN5 5-string (left)
My last bass purchase, about 4 years ago now, I suppose, was a MIJ Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass, and it's my main axe still. (right)

Lotus strat copy
Epiphone Special 2
Slammer Explorer copy
Epiphone Flying V
Squire Strat
Cheapo '80s Kramer
MIM Jazz Bass
Epiphone SG bass
Cheapo bass (don't remember brand)
Current: 2004 MIM Strat
2x Gibson LP Studios
No-name, warped-neck acoustic
Lotus strat copy
Epiphone Special 2
Slammer Explorer copy
Epiphone Flying V
Squire Strat
Cheapo '80s Kramer
MIM Jazz Bass
Epiphone SG bass
Cheapo bass (don't remember brand)
Current: 2004 MIM Strat
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

here's my list... and a little history
1. 1971 Kingston Acoustic 3/4 scale:
Mostly plywood
My first guitar that my grandfather bought me when I was 6. I used it for a year, then got my first electric. It sat in the closet for 37 years until last week. I resurrected it, cleaned it up and restrung it for my 4 year old niece. Now she just sits there are strums it. I was kind and tuned to an E chord.
2. 1972 Toyota Barney Kessel:
Sunbust with a Bigsby style trem
My first electric. A semi-hollow body. I played it for 5 years until it died during a school concert. My dad later traded the Toyota in on my second electric.
3. 1977 Bradley Les Paul Custom:
Cherry Sunbrst plain top, rosewood fretboard, fully bound
This what was waiting for me on the couch after my previous guitar died. I still have it and play it from time to time.
4. 1969 Fender Mustang Competition:
Orange/burnt Orange stripes, matching headstock
I bought this from a friend around 1980. Still have it and NO, ITS NOT FOR SALE.
5. Hoystar Acoustic 12-string:
Bought it from a woman who never played it in the late 1970's. Found out why, the action was brutal. Years later I gave it to my brother-in-law when his acoustic got destroyed while he was moving. He still has it.
6. Kay bass (SG style):
Bought it in the early 1980's when I felt I needed a bass. It came with a Sunn Sorado Bass amp. Sold them both in the early 1990's for $200, just to get them out of the house.
7. 1991 Fender Stratocaster Plus:
Oylmpic White, white pick guard, maple neck
My wife decided that she would buy me a new guitar for my 28th birthday. I went in looking for a Gibson Les Paul Custom... walked out with it instead. Still have it, still play it.
8. 1994 Ovation Celebrity Deluxe CC257:
Natural Spruce Top, Super Shallow bowl, rosewood/mahagony neck, OP-24+ preamp
In '94 I felt I needed an acoustic. My dear wife kindly obliged me. Still have it and play it.
9. 1995 Ovation Balladeer 1751 12-string:
Dark Green Spruce top, Full bowl, rosewood/mahagony neck, OP-24 Plus preamp
In mid-2008 I needed to fill my 12-string hole in my collection. On Ebay I found a Balladeer in need of some care. $163 and 5 hours of TLC, she sounds and plays great.
10. 2007 Ovation Elite-T 1868T-5:
Black textured Spruce top, Super Shallow bowl, ebony/maple neck, OP-Pro preamp
As you can tell, I became an Ovation fan. I saw the Elite-T in its flat black and had to have it. I found one at my local SA. I bought it in late 2008 and its my primary acoustic.
11. 2003 Michael Kelly Patriot Q:
Faded black quilted maple top, fully bound, rosewood/mahagony neck
Mid-2009, after combing Craigslist for a long time and seeing this Les Paul style guitar pop up from time to time and the price dropping each time, I finally bought it. A solid, well made guitar.
12. 2004 Squier Strat Affininty (Indo)
Metallic flake red with white pick guard, maple neck with rosewood fretboard
September 2009, another Craiglist find ($25) included Fender gigbag, Frontman 15G amp, Fender AT-3 tuner, and new Fender Strings... all in the original boxes. It sat in the closet for 5 years used. Not sure if I will upgrade it or trade it.
13. 2008 Dean EABC (Electric Acoustic Bass w/Cutaway):
Natural Spruce top with mahagony sides, back and neck with rosewood fretboard
October 2009, another CL find ($50), near mint. Plays quite well and very loud unplugged for a cheap acoustic bass.
14. 2009 Martin OM-1:
000-14 body style, Sitka Spruce top with Sapele sides and back, Stratabond neck and Rosewood fretboard
November 2009, went into GC looking for a Korg Black pedal tuner, came home with an OM-1... talk about losing your focus.

Now I have all the guitars I have owned in albums (Link) Now I can keep track of the ones I bought,101 so far(some others too but I don't have any photos). No I don't still own them all, only a few. It a revolving door collection.
aw, that's so cool how the les paul forum let's you setup a gallery like that. I often wish shortscale had something like. like if everyone had their own personal gallery of their guitars. sometimes I want to find a picture of a member's guitar and it's nearly impossible to find it.

i actually suggested to dots that we each have our own kinda myspace type page deal where we can display our current pedal set up (along with previous ones), current amp, current guitars, etc.mage wrote:aw, that's so cool how the les paul forum let's you setup a gallery like that. it would be a one stop resource, and could be searchable.

I often wish shortscale had something like. like if everyone had their own personal gallery of their guitars. sometimes I want to find a picture of a member's guitar and it's nearly impossible to find it.
it would be a one stop resource, and could be searchable.

Hmm.. That guitar is pretty run of the mill. It's just factory black and tort. I'll shoot ya a pic, if you really want to see it but I think you might be thinking of some other guitar.mage wrote:this guitar that made me think of this. like where do I even go to find a picture of it? That said, I'm 100% behind the implementation of this member's guitar gallery thing. If the flashy Gibson thing can't work on SS, then perhaps this is something we could do in the wiki pages? I understand it was intended to serve that sort of purpose to begin with.
