what's groundbreaking about a knock-off strat from a company that despises knock-offs?rich douche wrote:"I spend around $500,000 a year on guitars and musical equipment but because of Gibson’s unbelievably bad descisions on new guitar models and their unethical treatment of their dealers I don’t spend any of that money on new Gibsons anymore. I buy vintage or used Gibsons so that the company doesn’t get any of my money.
I think fran is being facetious. personally, I think these guitars are really stupid looking but these kind of comments just piss me off:
wtf? the company should be able to try something new FFS. these guitars are not new though, they're just ripping off a strat, which is like the most boring and most unlike gibson move you could possibly make. The only guitars I want from “Gibson are the ones coming out of Kalamazoo since the mid 80s.
cogito ergo sum...thing or other...

Re: Gibson Strat
I would want one just so I could sell it to a collector in 30 years.
It's just funny how the very company that sues all its competitors who make any guitars even remotely appear similar to their own, would knowingly thinks this was a good idea.
I was annoyed when PRS had to stop production of all their singlecut guitars because of Gibson and I am equally glad PRS won the lawsuit on appeal. The best part was PRS probably doubled the number of singlecut guitars after they won.

This is just another one of those things where I cannot possibly see how, through the many people the idea would have had to pass through before actually getting made, no-one said "what the fuck is this?"
It's in the same league as that Dee Dee Ramone hip hop album (which is possibly the most I've ever laughed at anything musical before).

Yep, that's the single most shocking thing about this whole story.Reece wrote:This is just another one of those things where I cannot possibly see how, through the many people the idea would have had to pass through before actually getting made, no-one said "what the fuck is this?"

A table full of industry people with Gibson's best interests in mind all went "Yeah, I don't see the problem with this, Garry."
Kind of like the McWrap...
