I think you might want the hole. that pickguard looks like it will cover the volume knob. so you'll have to shift the volume to where the switch is and then route a spot for the switch.
or you could just drill the guard where the knob is. that might look a little odd though.

looks weird with one knob on the pickguard and one knob off. definitely liking the absence of inlays, though.

i still haven't ordered the pickguard for this thing. but in the mean time hotrod sent me a link to an ebay for a melody maker with one pickup.
i kind of just want the one pickup i think ?
what do you guys think ??

One pickup is cool... but this thing will need a solid colour paint job to replace the drab cherry stain. Fiesta red? Phelam blue?

I think that it'd look better and probably sound better with two pickups. Shouldn't be too much more expensive to have two pickups..

i got like 15 strat pickups laying around. 6 are out of bullets, 3 are out of a squier standard, and im not sure where the other ones are from.....
i would love another duckbucker if i could find one used at a good price.

edit: of course, you know this though. you have plenty of one pickup guitars yourself.
it would be easiest that way though because you wouldn't have to do the switch.
