Mini Kaoss pad hookup

Post by the isaac eaton »

Alright shortscale im feeling a little retarded here so help me out if you can.

The cyber twin has an effects loop and I need to know how to hook the kaoss pad up to the effets loop so I can use the kaoss pad effects on my guitar.

I have the ability to change the kaoss pad to 1/4 inch plugs

You could try just using just the left OR right for the ins and outs on the Kaoss pad, to make sure there's no weird stereo cancellation thing going on when you combine the stereo signals to mono.

I'm guessing it's an impedance mismatch, Hurb had to use a booster and a loop to get his up to volume.. but his was not in an fx loop:

i'm sure you'd have to do it in mono. that's the only way i can get my ineko to work in my effects loop. i had to use mono cables as well. it's still a bit lossy, but i just crank the return volume.

your loop should look like this

TWIN out > KAOS in > KAOS out > TWIN in L

i wouldn't think you would need a preamp for the thing, its not a fucking record player.

trying to think here.....i know my amp has a dedicated effects volume knob on the front panel of the amp. im not sure how yours works with all that computar technikz

now that i look at the photo that white push button (it says LEVEL) should turn on some sort of "preamp type device" inside your amp and boost the level if needed.

Thanks rob i got it too work. But there's a volume drop and a bit of a tone cut. nothing that can't be compensated for if I need to use it. Im thinking maybe an FX loop pedal would work better, like one with a booster built in. do people make such a thing?

agreed

but it's a fun little thing, saying they should make one for guitar ? are you retarded ? you can use it on anything you like, i used it on guitar, bass, drumcomputer

it could make sexy sounds (the random synth things settings mmm) and the bit shifting/dist settting was also so crap it sounded cool, sliding over it ... sorta regret selling it because it could be of really good use now. i think one of the reasons why i sold it is the hassle of connecting but also the volume drop. this is so common though , look at mxr blue box...huge volume drop too, it could be so awesome if it was loud the way dwarfcraft knows what loud actually is. :P
and also the digitech xp200, such a hassle when it doesn't use standard power supply, i don't wanna waste time on a million different cables and adapters. i want to plug in and go if it takes me longer than 5 seconds to get everything working then fuck off.

I think Korg aimed this squarely at the DJ market rather than musicians with those phono connectors.
Don't look at me I'm irrelevant!

I think that's an impedance mismatch issue with the Kaoss pad (since it's for line-level DJ applications), rather than the simply poor design of the Bluebox.

Yeah, it's not shit design at all, it's just not meant for use with pickups.
