Duo-Caster

Post by serfx »

so i was wandering around one of the local guitar shops, while the other guitarist in my band was talking with the rental department about what we need to record over the new years long weekend.
and i was left alone for far to long
and well. for the second time in my life i played a stratocaster
sure its a squier bullet strat
but they only had red..
meh
so i asked the dude at the counter what else they had in stock.
they had them all aside from shell pink.
so i immediately asked to see the Daphne Blue ..
you know this one:
Image

it had a small blemish on the fret board, second fret in on the high E
so i got tax free and a set of 11's w/ wound 3rd
and wandered with KP back to the bat cave (where he does all the mixes for our stuff)
pulled it apart, clipped out the middle pickup. tossed on the11's gave it a setup, had to adjust the D and high E for intonation
tossed the second tone knob under the pickguard.
and now i'm stoked.

only have one cell phone pic at the moment, as after mixing the new 7" we went to jam, and i left it at the jam space
Image

sounds fucking gnarly
and i like the feedback i pull off the cheap pickups.
gonna see if my spare twang king will fit in the bridge though.

middle pickup i'm guessing. Neck and Middle is one of my favourite sounds on a strat but keep in mind they originally had a 3-pos switch

aenz just set my ass straight!
for some dumbass reason i thought it was a classic vibe strat, and not a bullet.
i think that someone online found a place that does duo guards with 3 pot holes and a 5 way switch area.
or i may just be talking out my ass.

thanks man

its a pretty chunky neck .. at least for me.
no sharp fret ends, no buzz anywhere, there is a little bit of a sharp spot on the G string on the bridge, at least i hop that would explain why i've broken 4 G strings since wednesday.
