i have a string cutter and clipper, it was a gift from my uncle.
it's very nice, even though i can do it by hand.
re-stringing and cleaning my guitars is very relaxing.

Saves time if you break a string at a gig and want to restring quickly. It was on offer with a bunch of strings. It also saves a load of time restringing a 12-string......
I don't mind the string change. I just don't like the part where the string ends stab the shit out of my fingers. Thank gods for the fender slotted tuners, so easy.

No, I find restringing quite relaxing, but I do use a string winder (That I got free with a copy of total guitar in 1997).
I used that same edition's string winder only this evening; I find it dead handy, for the rapid removal of old strings, and because the pressure you get when winding the strings on is far more consistent (and quicker) than manually winding them on; this makes life loads easier on Gibson-style pegs (where I wind once over the string, then the rest under), and I reckon the trem returns to tune more reliably if your string windings are minimal and smooth.
i've one ernie ball one i got for free with a strings purchase years and years ago (i wanted to try enrie ball strings...they sucked), when i first had it i used it, but now i don't bother anymore, i can restring quick enough and don't do it often either. slotted tuners are great though i agree. and to cut the strings i use whatever i got like pliers or even a nailclipper or scissors lol i don't gig as a guitarist or bassist anymore so it's not like i have to replace a string in a rush.
Because it is not a time consuming task that needs a tool.
neither is removing a cap and placing it on the back of the pen before you write, but those clicker deals sure are neat. plus, you take them apart and make cannons out of them.
winders hardly save hours of back-breaking labor. they just make something on the tedious side go a little quicker and only cost you a couple bucks for the convenience. *shrug* maybe my thumbs and forefingers are just worn out from all that XBOX360 GAMING? =P
