UPDATE
After a LOT of trying, I managed to get the PCB out (the power jack kept fouling my efforts), but in the process broke the awful thin wires off the board coming from the tap/record switch.
Replaced the LED with success, and the flat wire "loom" (?) going to the bypass footswitch broke in the same way. So basically I'm going to have to replace all this SHITTYass thin wiring going to to the footswitches, if only to make sure such things don't happen again. And of course I have none, so I'm gonna have to dash to the craft shop in Bognor when I'm home this weekend.
It's very possible the original LED stopped working because one a shitty bypass switch connection, the replacement was working but intermittent when moving the footswitch.
*sigh*

Yeah, I was mega careful doing the wiring as it was scaaaaaary. I think I'm gonna wire straight to the footswitch terminals rather than using the stupid little PCB on it; I'd just have to look at the PCB and map out where each connection on the side goes to the actual terminals.

Is this a baaaad idea?

So you'd be needing access to connections on the footswitch to add the volume boost rather than sticking it before the output jack?
I'm just gonna buy some solid core wire on eBay to save me having to squeeze a visit into town. Any idea what gauge you would have used on my Box O Bass Mike? It looks like a similar gauge that would fit in the holes on the Memory Man's PCB.

yeah, otherwise it would be boosting your shit pedal on or not, which is not what you want. I need to hack into the connection between the PCB and the 3PDT for the output signal for the hazarai. It will be easy to find as it will be on the 3PDT in a switch that connects things to the output jack.Doog wrote:So you'd be needing access to connections on the footswitch to add the volume boost rather than sticking it before the output jack?
It will look something like this:
Code: Select all
Output from PCB
|
|
Output Jack
|
|
Input Jack
So, my multi-coloured gay-friendly solid core arrived over the weekend, and this morning..

It's like a robot octopus

OH GOD I HOPE IT WORKS

YEAH BOOOIIIIII
Oddly enough the tap/record footswitch was more of a pain in the cunt to rewire to the PCB than the bypass footswitch, and I had just solder one of the connections on to the top of the board rather than poking the wire through. BUT it all works fine for the moment, I just have to be a little weary of it, I think.
I also put a new LED in (pinched from my deceased Nobels ODR-S) and it worked fine, although it's possible it was the wiring rather than the stock LED that was causing the problem.
Sorry for not waiting Mike, I just wanted to get the fucking thing working again! At least I know now how to dismantle the beast for future modding.

Wicked. Fucking well played MacGuvyer!
Don't apologise at all, this will make my job SO MUCH easier when I add the boost. I'm still waiting on those lil pots from Banzai but they should ship today apparently. Defo get it done early '10 at the latest. Great that you can remove stuff so I don't have to drill the case with the guts in situ.
