http://news.harmony-central.com/Product ... -Special-6
Handwired (allegedly). 5-6 watts from a 12AX7 and a 6V6; 10" speaker in the combo or a 12" in the stack. Volume, tone, and gain-boost. Looks ace.
The Combo has an MAP of $200 and the head is $180 + $150 for the cab. Both list for under $300.
I AM EXCITE!

that looks very clean but VHT's logo is hideous.

I'm rather unpleasantly reminded of Van Halen, actually.

G0od to see a stand by switch on that guy, like no 5 watt budget amps have one. I don't mind the logo. pretty cool amp.

because it's unnecessary on a low wattage amp.

Mike: that link you posted is the Classic 6, which is a touch different. My intuition is that the Special 6 is an offshore version, though.
The Special subtracts the standby and adds a half-power switch. It also has the gain boost thing and, from what I've gathered, has pretty respectable clean headroom with the boost off. My guess is the build quality will be similar to Blackheart, which is to say great.
At $200 this seems a great deal. I think it might become part of the forthcoming WILL AMP MASTER PLAN 2010.

It sounds pretty gewd.
the dirt is a bit fizzly-pop for my taste but I can still see myself using this.

What does the back panel look like on the performer? I can't find any info any where.

I'm not sure what everyone's opinion on the new VHT amps are, but keep in mind this is not the same VHT that made the Ultralead and Pittbull. Somehow the owner of VHT allowed the trademark to lapse, and someone else bought it. The original guy now makes amp designs under the Fryette name. Doesn't mean this won't be good, but I guess in my mind (For better or worse) this won't be a "Real" VHT.

Same here. This new VHT just started last January, so I think they haven't got a good group of dealers yet. I'm thinking I should eMail and ask when these will be available.
Apparently the new VHTs are basically the same as the old ones - still PTP and all that stuff. AFAIK it's just a new company using the name.
