LIVE Recording -- 4 Tracks Simultaneously?!

Post by cobascis »

Okay, in the past I've done recordings track by track (i'd play drums, then guitar, then bass, then have singer sing, ETC.) but with my band we excel playing together. How can I set it up in Garage Band or Logic Express 7 so that I can have 4 tracks recording at ONCE, so I can mix each track after. I need something to separate the guitars, bass, drums, ETC. My friend has a lexicon lambda, but that will do 2, maximum apparently (and I couldn't get it to work!!!). Whats the cheapest set up so I can get 4 tracks all edit-able in software, too?

You have to have an interface that will let you hook up 4 different mics. OR, you can get a mixer and mix your band down to two tracks or however many you have right now, but you won't be able to mix everything separately later.
